McCain is only seeing things through the eyes of the troops on the ground. It's war, though. McCain won't hear much about the long term strategy driving our tactics with a record of public criticism like his.

I really think that time in the Hanoi Hilton has taken it's toll, along with numerous dissapointing tries for the White House. He just doesn't seem to understand the notion that being an ex-POW, while something that we admire, is not qualification for running a war - or the nation.
The overgrown admiral's brat wants Rumsfeld's job, that's why he's talking like that.
