My daughter saw the pic on your page and said, "The Dr Seuss story that never was." LOL!!! Smart alec kid!
David Horowitz and Tammy Bruce helped me through this transition (I'm not alone! I'm not crazy!). I consider Prodigal Son the Blue Book (the AA bible) for recovered liberals. Also Hating Whitey and Unholy Wars.
They do read these posts? Good. Hey, ex-friends, ex-colleagues--you blew it. The Democrats will never win the White House unless they get out of bed with the radical left and islamicfascists. It is no longer the party of Truman and FDR or JFK. You are intolerant, close-minded snobs. I am soooo happy I finally recognized liberalism for the giant fraud it is. Au revoir, mes amis!
Thanks--I love freepers. I joined Protest Warrior over the summer and met some Freepers at a counter rally. That's how I heard of FR. Feel right at home here!
Besides Clinton's escapades, it was also the rising crime rates of the 90's -- law and order -- that won me over. I realized that being tough on crime wasn't "racist" -- black communities don't want to be held hostage by thugs any more than any other community does.
What also gets me is the upside-down reasoning -- "If crime is so low, why do we put so many criminals in jail?" Duh, maybe crime is low BECAUSE the criminals are locked up? Ya ever think of that? Morons is right.
It's funny though, you notice Dems don't do the "soft on crime" shuffle anymore? That's because we conservatives blatantly proved them wrong. I bet the party leaders would claim now that the Dems were never anything but tough on crime.
My wacko liberal brother is now on the Bev Harris conspiracy wagon. Do you have a good source that shoots her credibility to smithereens?
Stories like yours gladden my heart. Anarcho-leftists love to state that conservatives are that way because they're parents were &c.&.c, but liberals have thought their way to the truth; seeing a liberal who really has thought his way to the truth is wonderful.
Welcome to F.R. from an English FReeper.
But in my book, still not as funny as the "November surmise" from the earlier thread!
Welcome to FReeperville.
Welcome aboard PINGEE #383.
The Dog ;-)
Welcome aboard, PINGEE #384.
Have him read this DUmmie FUnnies Edition where Bev Harris threatens to sue the DUmmies.
Cool! A NYC FReeper! That makes what, like 3 of us now? :)
Welcome to FR!
Welcome to Free Republic.
I voted (when I did vote) dem most of my life as well, coming from an entire family of dems. But I was never really "liberal". My deal was that I never really paid attention to the issues very much. I was just so busy working and raising a family, and being falsely secure in my own little world, that I did not take the time to get informed on the issues of politics.
But boy, oh boy, did I wake up when 9/11 happened! I became informed very quickly, and could not believe how conservative I am, and really always have been. I just never realized it!
Ever since then, I am a news and politics junkie. And I have been hooked on Free Republic since the day I found it.
Sorry - I guess this post is kind of off-topic from the DUFU! LOL!!
Oh, dear....
