I'm back from vacation. With a vengence, and I'm pissed off.
Some people don't know it yet, but there's a war on. Oh, not that little dust-up in Iraq. That's hardly worthy of the name. No, it's a war for the heart, soul, and future of America. It's a war being waged by the media against the War on Terror--against our survival-- and they will stop at nothing, stoop as low as needed, tell any lie, twist any truth beyond recognition. The total bullshit about the so-called war crime committed by a Marine was bad enough. This morning on a radio station, I heard the following advertisement: (quoted the best as I can recall)
(Announcer): "How desperate is the U.S. Army for soldiers? Apparently desperate enough to keep pedophiles in uniform!" (Cue outraged mother): "When I found out he had re-enlisted, I hit the roof!" (Announcer): "Tonight on Channel 11 Defenders, pedophiles in the military!"
Link/graphic to video advertising the segment is at the top of the right-most column. For those who don't know or remember, Channel 11 is owned by the Belo Broadcasting Group, and is where Dan Rather got his start in the 60's. I wrote them a rather sharp email after the joke that was Rathergate, but the final response I got might as well have been written by a machine.
This is nothing less than a continued WAR on our military by the jackasses of the media. It is a blatant attempt to smear the uniform they wear--oh they're not just murderers, war criminals, and baby-killers, now they're pedophiles too! The media will not be satisfied until they have turned Iraq into another Vietnam, a surrender and humiliation of the United States.
It has become crystal clear that the media learned NOTHING from Rathergate or their repudiation by the electorate. Instead, they have redoubled their efforts to bend the country to their will. We pride ourselves on the victory of November 2, but that does not mean we have won the war. Too many people still get their news from TV. The mainstream media is still "mainstream;" crippled but not dead. Wounded, but dangerous.
The free press, so-called "guarantor of our security" has instead, become the greatest threat to it. We can no longer sit by idly while they tear down everything America has stood for for over 200 years. It is time for some action. But what can we do, short of violence--which would generally be counterproductive anyway? I suspect it would take a Pinochet-style "dirty war" to stop them cold, and frankly that's a bit far. Murder doesn't strike me as a good idea (though the person who approved that advertisement probably shouldn't admit it to my face). On the other hand, using the tactics of the left against the left... now that has some appeal.
I've got an idea or two, which are in a very primitive form right now. This is not something I have the time, resources, or skill to actually lead. But I can certainly try to outline it, and maybe, just maybe, there's someone with more of each to take the fight back to the media. Because until we can remove the enemy's greatest weapon, we cannot win a lasting victory.
More in a few days.
When in danger or in doubt...
Ah hell, I've grown so used to watching us go nuts before we have the facts that restraint is now unknown at my keyboard.
Channel-11 in Houston. OK.
