DemocRATZ are getting crazy in Nicholasville

For those of you who don't know Laura, she is a tireless volunteer for the GOP in Jessamine County. You may have run in to her and her family in the office, or you may have spoken to her on the phone. As a woman who's been walking her precinct, this frightens me, but it also reminds me that we desperately need some ethical City Commissioners in Nicholasville proper. For those of you who live outside the city limits of Nicholasville and cannot vote on the Commissioners, please tell everyone you know who is eligible to vote all about this. And watch for Laura on Channel 36, even if it's not your "regular" news station. For those of you who are eligible to vote for Commissioners, please remember the names of Doug Day and Chris Moore. These are the two men who have pledged to work WITH Mayor Martin (not against him), who want to support firefighters and police officers, and who are ethical and would never stoop to threatening a woman to protect their positions.

Don't forget to vote on Tuesday!

Sincerely, Sue Secretary, RPJC

Dear Friends,

This happened to Laura and she is going to be interviewed by Newschannel 36. Please watch for it. Also, please forward this to EVERYONE you can as we need this information to get out BEFORE elections. Please go to the city commissioners meeting Thurs 5:30 this week in Nicholasville to show your support for our Mayor and Laura Sellers. The Commissioners are whispering about this, but WE NEED TO SHOUT this unjust and unethical and illegal behavior from the rooftops.

To the Citizens of Nicholasville:

I went out canvassing about 300 homes in my own neighborhood precinct on behalf of the Jessamine County Republican Party on Saturday, October the 30th. I was on Weil Lane and was approached by three men. At first, I thought they were just curious neighbors, but then I asked if one of them was Donny Welch, and he said yes. I did not recognize the 2nd man. The third man was tall and drove a white SUV. The tall man asked me what I was doing and I told him my short 3 questions: (Can we count on you to vote? Do you have any questions regarding the candidates? And do you need a ride to the polls?) He said, no, I mean what are you saying about the commisioners? I told him that if someone asked, or if I thought they were police and fireman, I would ask them if they were aware that the mayor was requesting that we elect the two new candidates for commissioner because he’s not able to get the votes through to balance the city’s checkbook so that we could pay them competitive wages. The tall man accused me of slandering the commissioners and he was going to sue me and follow me from house to house. I asked him his name and reached out my hand to shake his. He hesitated, then said, “John”, [hesitation] John Ethington“. He then was rude and even tried to roll the passenger window up on my arms. They double-parked to block the entrance to the neighborhood and he said something like these people are my supporters, you don’t need to be spreading any lies about me. We later found out from a campaign flyer Russ Meyer's campaign had mailed to my house that John Ethington was in fact Russell Meyer, City Commissioner. My husband and I positively identified who was following me. He misrepresented himself to me; and my taxes help pay their salaries! I can’t prove it, but I’m pretty sure it was a city employee who informed the intimidating commissioners. I kept on that street for a couple of more houses with no answers, so I began working on another street.

All I’m trying to do is help raise the funding for the police and fire departments. I was very upset. The police came about 15 to 30 minutes later. I was on a different street by then because I still had so much ground to cover, I told the police officers what had transpired [One of them was Sgt. Kim Fathergill] Both of the officers assured me that I could keep on campaigning and to call them again if I had any more trouble. You know, all of the voters, but especially the women of Nicholasville, ought to be outraged that 3 commissioners took it upon themselves to try and intimidate one female, tax-paying, law-abiding, volunteer, citizen.

I may have misunderstood the amounts of money involved but I still have my first ammendment rights to say what I believe to be true. If the neighbors disagreed with me, I just simply said, “...well, we’ll just have to agree to disagree and have a good day or God bless you.” I called a lawyer and he confirmed I had not done anything illegal. So then, I called News Channel 36, and a couple of radio stations. I’m hoping you can help me get the truth out about the corruption going on down here in Jessamine County. They think that since the local newspaper doesn’t print again until after the election that they can get away with this sort of unethical (if not illegal) behavior. I've been told that these three city employees/officials have been going around bragging that they chased me out of that neighborhood. Well, they might have just caused the end of their campaigns because in my book, if it's unethical, it's wrong. I’ve been told by wise counsel that I have grounds to sue if I so choose and am considering doing so.
