Kerrys Discharge
Im sure youve read at least some speculation about John Kerrys honorable discharge from the navy being not-so-honorable. The New York Sun has an interesting story on this today:
An official Navy document on Senator Kerrys campaign Web site listed as Mr. Kerrys Honorable Discharge from the Reserves opens a door on a well kept secret about his military service.
The document is a form cover letter in the name of the Carter administrations secretary of the Navy, W. Graham Claytor. It describes Mr. Kerrys discharge as being subsequent to the review of a board of officers. This in it self is unusual. There is nothing about an ordinary honorable discharge action in the Navy that requires a review by a board of officers.
According to the secretary of the Navys document, the authority of reference this board was using in considering Mr. Kerrys record was Title 10, U.S. Code Section 1162 and 1163. This section refers to the grounds for involuntary separation from the service. What was being reviewed, then, was Mr. Kerrys involuntary separation from the service. And it couldnt have been an honorable discharge, or there would have been no point in any review at all. The review was likely held to improve Mr. Kerrys status of discharge from a less than honorable discharge to an honorable discharge.
A Kerry campaign spokesman, David Wade, was asked whether Mr. Kerry had ever been a victim of an attempt to deny him an honorable discharge. There has been no response to that inquiry.
Theres more at NYSun.com. Why wont Kerry sign a form 180, release all his military records, and clear up these questions?

Yep. I said as much yesterday: Kerry is in a catch 22. He cannot stonewall it.
Not this close to the election.
"Who are they to question John Kerry? Don't they know who he is?
That's the point. Most folks do not know who he is, which is why the swiftees are so important. They KNOW him
Yep. All the paperwork in Kerry's file is most likely an effort to upgrade his discharge IAW the naval regulations cited above. I cannot see kerry or any of his minions wiggling out of this if it is brought to the attention of the American people.
2.2 Statutory/DirectiveAuthority
The NDRB, in its conduct of discharge review, shall be guided by the applicable statutes, regulations, and manuals and directives of the Department of the Navy, and other written public expressions of policy by competent
authority: a. Reference (a), Review of discharge or dismissal
The Secretary concerned shall, after consulting the Administrator of Veterans Affairs, establish a board of review, consisting of five members, to review the discharge or dismissal (other than a discharge or dismissal by
sentence of a general court-martial) of any former member of an armed force under the jurisdiction of his department upon its own motion or upon the request of the former member or, if he is dead, his surviving spouse, next of
kin, or legal representative. A motion or request for review must be made within 15 years after the date of the discharge or dismissal. A board established under this section may, subject to review bythe Secretary concerned, change a discharge or dismissal, or issue a new discharge, to reflect its findings.
Thanks for your service.
I suspect this, too, will go up in smoke and be ignored. Remember: That evil-doer Nixon was President of the United States and he had an enemies list and Poor John Kerry got himself on it by doing a little protesting. Of course that Evil Pentagon gave him a dishonorable discharge. It took the Wonderful, Kind, Bright and Fair Jimmy Carter to fix the whole thing for Poor John Kerry.........
All it needs is the front page for at least 10 days. If it gets as much coverage as rathergate, Kerry is finished.
Remember, Kerry is the one who made a big deal of the war hero bit.
...It's not about the crime it's about the cover-up.
I just hope it happens in time.
I agree, He tried to cover this up so much and I remember wanting to smack that smug fat@$$ Micheal Meehan when he sits there and totally ignores the DD180 question and says that all the record are there. They are NOT all there and he knows it. They've tried to bamboozle this through the whole campain and I think even they are surprised how far they've gotten. For one thing they can't let Kerry talk to asn unfriendly reporter. That's been accomplished so far by a compliant media. Thats why Kerry can't come on fox or anything. Edwards can, but he has deniability. All the talking heads have deniability, and Kerry could lie if he's ever asked outright. But Kerry can't hide from proof. He can't explain this. It needs to get out!!
It would have been nice for this to come out during the primaries, but would have could have, might have
Wouldn't that be juicy!
Isn't the fact that he got the medals back in 1985 -- not during the Carter presidency -- a problem too?
LOL!
DENY, DENY, DENY!
Head in the sand all right.
Yes. He says that he lost them (the cititations). Well, that is a lie. The military keeps a copy of his citations in his record. How could the military re-write a medal citation without being there to see what when on? They can't. Kerry's original citations were purged when he was orginally discharged. He had someone in the pentagon slip the new citations in his records.
sorry wrong link above. More here:

I'm a little late to the party, but if the type of discharge is the issue, he doesn't even need an SF180. He should have received his DD214 when he got out which lists the characterization of his discharge. Mine's at home collecting dust. Why can't he produce his?
