Media manipulated cutaway shots in debate

The candidate shifts back and forth nervously behind the impressive lectern. He scowls. He grimaces. He appears smug and condescending. He licks his lips and anxiously opens and closes his mouth, like a guppy gasping for oxygen.

And why not? This televised debate is for all the marbles: the presidency of the United States.

But the cutaway shots described here are not of George W. Bush. They're cutaway shots of John Kerry. (More.) http://www.whatsinthenews.com

Has anybody done a similar analysis of the footage used by the other networks/media?

The DNC had a video on their website showing all the faces Bush made during the debate.

I laughed when I saw it and I sent the DNC a note to let them know they should take a good look at the faces Bush made because that's how the public feels whenever the dems shills show up on TV and spew their DNC talking points. [I named a few names - of dems]

In actuality, most of these 'cutaway' shots don't look much different from one another .. sure there is an occasional lip licking and looking away, but not the diversity of grimaces that our prez showed ... can't really fault the media on showing more of Bush than Kerry on the cutaways with that choice.

President Bush looked exactly how he felt -- disgusted. He's heard the same garbage from Kerry for months -- the same attacks, the same "When I'm President..... I'll make a perfect world" nonsense (for lack of a more obnoxious word) again and again. His grimaces, disgust, etc., were obvious and clearly understandable. And for those who are critical of the fact that he looks tired, has it occurred to ANY of the Dims that it's quite possible that running for President right now is absolutely NOT George Bush's top priority -- BEING the President is! And the past few years had to have been the most difficult in his life. I love him and respect him -- but I do not envy him his job. He has upheld his office with dignity, with honor, with consistency, and with courage. Thank God he never considered taking the "Global Test."

I watched the debate on Cspan and your right Kerry did all those things
Bush on the other had had great facial expressions. When every Kerry said some ridiculous thing, Bush would look at the camera with an expression that said what did I just hear,.. can you believe that............

Don't forget that Lehrer asked at least 6 of 9 questions that put Bush on the defensive, while putting 6 of 9 questions to Kerry that were "softballs". Bush even pointed out one question that was "loaded".

This reminds me of the Dems trying to dig up occasions of Bush changing his positions just to prove he's as big a flip-flopper as Kerry.
It didn't work.

And trying to say Kerry looked as nervous, uncomfortable and lacking in confidence as Bush did is ridiculous.

Kerry looked more convincing telling lies than Bush did telling the truth. It was astounding and sickening at the same time.

As to your question about his tongue. I used to work with people on heavy psychotropic medication who had tardive dyskinesia, a side effect. I don't know if any other medication causes it, but it was common with people taking haldol. Has anyone ever noticed if he rubs his thumb and fingers. Pill rolling behavior is another sign of it.

Don't forget. Bush spent the day comforting hurricane victims in Florida, while Kerry was having a manicure.

While Bush is running the War and the country, Kerry can't even be bothered to show up for an occasional vote in the Senate.

I swear, the pic in post #13 makes Kerry look like Dan Rather's brother. Is it just me?

I said it the first night - his (Kerry's) eyes were shifting back and forth as he looked through his notes. I commented - at the time - Kerry looked Nixon-esque he appeared so shifty & now we know why & what he was afraid of being caught with! Yet after the debate the media only looked at the Bush side shots.
