I have also seen my company go out of its way to get cheap technical labor from india, but I never blamed the president, I felt it was the company's choice. Am I wrong? If someone with a better understanding of oil and its relationship to the economy than me (and that's everyone) could explain, I'd appreciate it very much! BTW, I have been searching, mainly here for quite some time and I've found alot, but if I can get more info I want that to. Also, please provide as many links as possible.
Forgive the ignorance in this post, but once again I am arguing with a liberal. This one blames the president for High oil prices, and jobs going over seas to india.
Ask him what's wrong with high oil prices. Higher oil prices means people can afford to buy less gas which means they can't drive as much which means less pollution which means cleaner air which means less global warming. Ask your friend what he has against the environment.
Also, ask him what he has against the poor people of India. Why shouldn't they be able to work for a living? Why does he want those poor people to starve?
Suggest he's a Closet Conservative.
Keep me posted. I don't know what happened to my Liberal friend who used to e-spew his venom to me. I think I may have caused him to have an aneurism.
Best of luck.
I agree 100% on what these two people advice you to say.
Here is another one you can through in.
Ask your liberal friend(s) why the democratic side of the congress has been so against opening up the oil fields in Alaska as GWB has proposed for four years. You may be quite aware that the environmental groups have fought hard against GWB's proposal. Suggest to your liberal friends that by opening up that huge reserve, and then only selling that oil to US consumers that we would reduce our dependancy on foreign oil. And also get back into the oil business from the perspective that we could adjust the price per barrel for local use to keep prices down for keeping the economy strong. Thirdly, if it turns out these fields are as huge as estimated, perhaps if we do no go hog wild and regulate carefully how much is extracted, OPEC and non-OPEC large oil producers will have much less power over us as how much a barrel goes for. Just suggestions, maybe I am full of it not being an expert in oil. But maybe what I say can fit into your argument after further research into what I suggest.
hang in there
Ah the issue with importing high tech jobs.
Ask your liberal friend exactly how he thinks Kerry can
just stop this process from happening. It has been going on for many years now, mostly un-noticed by the masses.
Heck I worked at Bell Labs for a number of years and I assure you we had scads of Indians and Chinese, and other asiatics employeed as software and hardware engineers etc.
Same for many high tech high visibility firms.
Tough call, Lurch can say anything that just sounds good.
Tis another story to somehow reverse such a practice. What is he going to do? Raise our taxes by ten percent to go into a special slush fund, to be used only to bribe our companies to hire Americans? He has already hinted at providing incentives to this affect, but where is he going to get the monies for such a long term initiative to bear fruit? Throw that at your liberal friend.
