Proof that Dan Rather really does vet his sources for possible political motivation:

In August, 2000, the AP broke a story stating that a grand jury would investigate whether President Clinton should be indicted. Dan Rather's response on cbsnews.com:
But when Bill Burkett - a partisan Democrat who compares President Bush to "Hitler" - provides Rather with documents which are contradicted by the son and widow of the supposed author and which cannot be authenticated by document experts, Rather calls Burkett an "unimpeachable source." Nope, no chance of political motivation there!
Memogate has stripped the last fig-leaf of impartiality from CBS news and its chief Democrat partisan.
