Howard Kurtz, who has just kicked tushie on this story since Day One, is on CNN now, and confirms that Rather is interviewing 86-year-old Marian Carr Knox, former secretary to Lt. Col. Jerry Killian.
Does this mean CBS is sticking by the memos? Or are they going to concede on the memos, and somehow try to insist that the attention should now shift to Bush's insufficient answers to the questions raised by the fake memos?
>>>Does this mean CBS is sticking by the memos?
Sounds like they're goign to pull the "dog ate my homework" defense by saying 'these memos are fake, but the content is accurate'. What a load of crap.
They bought this old broad off with some V8 to say that she saw these memos back in the 60s.
Bet your bottom dollar.. CBS isn't going without down without lying their asses off.
To me, this provides further weight to the possibility Knox is where they originally heard it, probably through Rather's daughter and have been sniffing around it for years. Alot of democrats knew this and obliged this by forging some documents, knowing Dan was salivating to get them.
Didn't Ms. Knox say that she had heard "buzz" around the office similar to what was in the memos, but the memos themselves are frauds? Sounds like Rather is trying to refocus attention back on the "content" of the memos, that is, the charges, and away from the the memos themselves.
