"If you can remember the 60's, you didn't live in the 60's" Apparently there was some really, really bad acid going around in Democratic circles towards the end of 1968. First, John Kerry talked about hearing a speech by President Nixon around Christmas of 1968. Then, former Texas Lieutenant Governor Ben Barnes talked about how, while in office, he helped George W. Bush get into the Texas Air National Guard when Bush enlisted in May of 1968.
Only one minor problem with these two stories. Neither Nixon or Ben Barnes held those offices in 1968. Both were inaugurated in January of 1969.
Of course, Barnes was Speaker of the Texas House prior to becoming Lieutenant Governor, so he still might have used his influence on behalf of George W. Bush, but he clearly states that "I got a young man named George W. Bush into the National Guard when I was Lieutenant Governor in Texas..."
I guess this was another instance that was "seared... seared" into his memory.
Like Woodstock, Don't eat the brown acid...Maybe if we try real hard maybe we can stop the truth...NO TRUTH, NO TRUTH, NO TRUTH!!
Seared with what? Face powder?
Shouldn't Bush be a hero to these democratic flower children anyway? After all, if he did manage to somehow avoid the draft - for that horrible, unjust, and illegal war - then he's a HERO! Just like all those guys who fled to Canada...
*snicker*
Give to the Swiftees. Their Truth Torpedos are magical, just like in the sixties ... sort of. I mean, they somehow replicate enroute to the target. M A G I C !!! 1) Give money to the Swiftees 2) They in turn will loose more Truth Torpedos and 3) enough folks will get it to do the job!! :)
