In Matters Political, The Coverup is Many Times Worse

The elephant in the living room is staring to break furniture.

Conservatives consider it a two-fer, as the story morphs from whopper into flip-flopper. But snared also is a hypocritical dino-media. Old News.

For almost a week the drip-drip-drip of what the Nixon Administration used to call a 'limited modfied hangout.' And this one being foisted by the Kerry Campaign is a doozy.

Will this damage Kerry beyond repair? No. But it will be 'Kerry's Killer-Rabit-Moment.'

A recent post at Free Republic was a reply from a reporter that should be following the story. Correction: the reporter is following the story. He just doesn't think it is worthy of his precious ink.

Most people that would be considered likely voters are aware of the story. And having followed the 'Bush AWOL' charges leveled by Michael Moore and Terry McAulife, and dutifully picked up by Old News, they smell a rat. They should.

The Kerry-In-Cambodia is the stuff of late summer dinner parties. Water cooler conversations. And it usually gets its start when one Vietnam Veteran starts out laughingly to another, going on to describe the latest Kerry contortion he has picked up on Hugh Hewitt or other blogs that are doing yeoman's duty (no pun intended) in replacing what would have been a major breaking story if it had George Bush's name in the place of LT. Kerry of "Apocolypse-Then."

The long knives of Navy Seals, intelligence types, and those familiar with theatre operations during Kerry's Christmas-In-Cambodia were first 'seared,' 'seared' in his mind. Maybe he should have sent it back to the chef for a 'little more fire.' This recollection was delivered to Kerry definitely underdone.

As we recollect this changing story over the next few months - yes months - it will be interesting if Kerry's historian, Doug Brinkley, and all those transparent media types, will ever put pen to paper so as to 'catch' Kerry's version before he is forced to recant.

Maybe that is what they know will eventually happen.

There is an old Marine trick when telling sea stories. Particularly after a consuming a few adult beverages.

Once you have your audience at the edge of their chairs, you pause, and take a drink.

The crowd wants to know what happened next.

You pause, lean down in a conspitatorial manner, then whisper at a barely audible level.....and say, we all died.
