EDITORIAL - You take the coach that just won the NBA title and supposedly you give him the greatest players in the world and what do you get?
Stupid ego-driven streetballers who have embarrassed all of us in the sport that we Americans invented. Dr. Nasmith must have been turning over in his grave to see the thugs like Iverson work so hard to look so awful.
Let little punks like Marbury, and Iverson talk smack all they want...Christian Laetner at least won the gold medal...
And don't give me that lame line about him being on the same team as Magic, Larry, Karl, Stockton, The Admiral, and Michael. It doesn't matter... USA Basketball looked so bad that Christian Laetner's College team at DUKE University could have beaten that sorry group of selfish streetballers today.
I thought the reason we decided to let the pros play in the Olympics was because we wanted the best players from all nations to compete. If this was the BEST that America had to offer then we can kiss the gold medal in our own game goodbye for years to come...

They still are.. The Nightmare Team.
I watched today's game.......and I've seen better play from schoolyard "teams".
These boys ........boys.............. humiliated America today.
Goes to show you how low the NBA has sunk.
Professional Basketball is a stupid "sport" anyway - how many others allow 100+ goals per game? And the scores are hardly decisive: 99-98. 87-84. 101-99. All you need to do is catch the last 2 minutes.
Didn't see the game. I'm guessing the team that beat them packed back in a zone making the US hit a jump shot. Shooting is a lost art in the NBA. End of story.
Technically Puerto Rico is part of the United States.
Kudos to a fine AMERICAN Basketball team!
Where's Dr.J or Jordan when you need them? Where's Magic? Those guys out there now, are PATHETIC!
Ugh, no wonder I lost interest in basketball back in 97, haven't paid that much attention to it since then, so I didn't give it much thought.
Now when they have a shot at getting my attention back, they blow it!
Basketball stars today are just walking billboards.
At least not till now.
Of all the members of that 92 Dream Team, those two were my favorite players. Those two were the ideal antithesis of the current sorry state of the NBA, Malone's recent stint with the Lakers notwithstanding.
I think it's fantastic. Putting professionals into the Olympics ruined it for me. And watching the hubristic hot air being let out of "world champion" basketball players is a much needed purgative.
