I know one thing: after several side trips over to DU, I can say that their forum is one of the most poorly designed I've ever seen. They are not alone in this. Why do so many forums have those impossible, clunky posting systems?
FR should at least get props for one of the most intuitive and free-flowing posting systems on the web.

Who are these people?? The real hate lies in the D'uh-ers themselves - (are you D'uh-ers listening?) they hate anything that would be traditionally American, from our 'superpower' status to our laws and our flag and the freedom therein, to our defense of the defenseless. It's a kind of guilty self-loathing that transfers itself to anything distinguishable about themselves and their American identity and freedoms. But instead of using this as an impetus to encourage democracy and freedom where it currently does not exist, they turn upon themselves and bite the hand that feeds them and allows them to speak freely, (even when that means disagreeing) and try to tear down our freedom, our nation, to bring us down to the level of the struggling nations, nations whose people would love freedom and peace. And they have surprisingly little tolerance for people who disagree with them.
