The sun is behind the picture taker in that photo. All the subjects are looking into the sun, so the shadows are appropriate.

Kerry does look like a hanger-on in that picture, like he doesn't belong there. Interesting.

That's exactly what I thought. The face shadows are consistent with that. Now look again: where is Kerry's shadow on the boat? The shadow of his body might be below the frame, but at least his arm must cast a shadow.

I sho' ain't no expert, okay? But I just don't understand how this can be right, when I look at the tousle haired blond guy I clearly see his shadow on his own left shoulder and chest, when I look at the man who appears to be Alston standing behind the blond his head seems to be tilted at about the same angle and yet I see no shadow. Why don't I see his shadow on the bare right shoulder of the guy next to him on the left?
