There is no question that Bush is infinatly worse off than I ever dreamed he would be at this point against a pathetic opponent with no message but hate.
If the election were tommorro, I don't think there is any question Bush would lose.
That being said, there is just as surely no question that, by every reliable measure, Bush has the big mo (at least leading up to the convention).
Just one example...Zogby's approval/dissapproval has gone from an abysmal 42/58 to a still poor but much better 49/51. That's from -16 to -2 since May 13th.
Continued improvement, at this rate, would put him at about 61/39 by election day. Sure, he'd be a lock to win then...but just how much will he continue to improve is anybody's guess.
Rasmussen and Zogby have also posted some really encouraging battleground numbers and the improvements on all issues from Iraq to consumer confidence cannot be denied.
Yet, this still remains a very polarized and pessimistic electorate (3 years of unbridled hate and lies will do that) and, for the first time, I am deeply concerned that team Kerry, if they get a big convention bounce, may just be able to run out the clock.
The only thing preventing panic is the knowledge that Bush can take control of this race in august. He has the money advantage and the message to do it.
However, after what has, thus far, been a dismal campaign, I have to wonder if he will.
God help us if he doesn't.
Looks like another kool aid drinker from DU..
Hail and Farewell...
I would laugh and ridicule you, but the effort seems too great....
Didn't this already get zotted under a different screen name?
Not zotted - the thread was pulled..
Ah, deleted is right. It was the first thing I saw this morning and as I was looking at it, it vanished.
Thanks.
Just to let you know Sonlitknight is a friend of mine, who I am glad I could finally convince to come here. He is just frustrated right now and thinks the sheeple will elect Kerry. Let's welcome him instead of condemning
For real, or are you spoofin?
No I am not
Kaslin: Got your FReepmail, thanks.
SonlitKnight: Welcome to FR, but don't let things get you down. I believe W has an excellent chance for another 4 years.
All: Pull in the troll detectors, the new guy has been vouched for.
Thanks
If the election were held tomorrow Bush would win. If the election were held tomorrow the undecided would have to decide in the poll that really counts and I don't think there is any doubt they would swing toward Bush. Kerry is not getting any bounce from the convention. The ratings suck and the whole presentation is so idiotically contrived it's worth watching just for a few laughs. Personally, I have not been this confident in a long time.
Thank you for your very kind words Kaslin.
Yes, I am very frustrated and worried.
Nothing, in this world, would make me happier than to find that my perception is 100% wrong.
We must not pay attention to the polls, wheather they are positive or negative for the president. I think the purpose for these polls is to discourage the voters from going to the polls on November 2nd when it really counts.
Thanks for letting us know this. Welcome, again SonlitKnight!
Reasons why I think GWB will win:
1. Kerry is an unserious person whose only concern is Kerry. This is not the time for such narcissism, we had 8 years under it from Clinton, look how Al-queda took advantage of it. People will see it also.
2. The leftists are very strident, this is desparation to get back into power. It turns people off after a while to hear and see all the vitriol. I.E. They know enough to tone down the Bush bashing at convention.
3. Kerry is not doing that well with veterans, in spite of his 4 months in Vietnam. Vets who serve in SE Asia aren't forgetting that he was more on the enemy's side than ours. He is a traitor, they all remember.
4. The war is going fairly well, and will get better in plenty of time before Nov 2. The war is not all that unpopular with most voters, most sane people recognize the dangers.
5. The economy is growing by leaps and bounds. It's the Economy, Stupid is what the name of the game was in '92 during Bush I, it is the same now. Notice the economy isn't talked much about now, only this vapid "quality healthcare" crap. Socialist medicine won't sell here.
6. Kerry inspires no one to vote for him. I don't think it's enough to be anybody but Bush. We need leadership and he ain't it.
I'm feeling the most confident I've ever been (and I've been confident all along). Last night was Kerry's last attempt to win voters and he failed, IMO. A war hero for four month's duty? Give us a break. What about his Senate record, lost in last night's self-promotion. We've yet to roll out the Big Guns. Be patient.
I couldn't agree more. Furthermore, heros don't brag. He got no boost from the convention. If you can't get some kind of boost from the most important speech in your life, how do you get it?
