Vladmir Putin said that Saddam was plotting terror attacks against the United States after 9/11. But neither Buckley nor Rockwell cares to incorporate that detail into their thinking.

The games played by a public intellectual are a marvel of moral irresponsibility. He casually suggests that a war would be a grand idea. The result is that 10,000 die and life is ruined for the living.

Considering that Saddam killed at least that many political prisoners EVERY YEAR, I figure the Iraqi people are already coming out ahead. And fewer things inspire more contempt than seeing someone like this Lewser use his rights as an American - rights earned by blood, by those willing to die for a higher cause - to belittle the similar rights that the Iraqi people now have. I really, really hope I never meet this jerk in person.
