DEMONSTRATION OF THE REAGAN LEGACY (Vile leftists)
DC Antiwar Network ^

The DC-Anti War Network (DAWN) is calling on members of the community to remember Ronald Reagan’s legacy on Friday, June 11. WE WILL MEET AT 9:45 am AT THE NORTH EXIT OF DUPONT CIRCLE ON Q STREET AND MARCH SILENTLY UP MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.

DAWN encourages participants to bring signs that educate the profound impact of Ronald Reagan on his times and on ours. Whether it be the illegal arms for hostages scandal, the support of rightwing death squads in El Salvador and Nicaragua, the invasion of Grenada, the busting of the air traffic controllers’ union, the massive nuclear arms buildup, or the propping up of rightwing dictators in the Philippines and Chile, the killing of innocent civilians in Lebanon, the environmental destruction, and countless other acts, we call on people to bring signs that articulate Reagan’s impact on our world. The mass media has done a great job of telling us about Reagan’s sense of humor and some of his more endearing personal characteristics. However, we believe that we should also remember all that the man did of which the media has not reminded us. At the same time, we also believe we should remember all those who have died as a result of his life’s actions. We ask that demonstrators be as silent as possible, letting their signs and banners speak for themselves. In the legacy of this particular man, there is much cause for sorrowful reflection.

Ronald Reagan is dead, but his legacy lives on. Let’s draw attention to that legacy so that we can fight it now and in the future. Later in the day, DAWN is calling on the community to fight Reagan’s legacy by joining in another march on Donald Rumsfeld’s house. That march will begin at 6 PM at Dupont Circle and will call once again for Rumsfeld to resign from office immediately.
