if there really are people who are trying to 'get' Alamo-GirlWell, that's not true; I just read at the Little Place that it was an out and out lie; and I know it's the truth because the very same person who posted that, confirmed the AFers life long dream queston: that FR is, in fact, run soley by and for the RNC. Why would he lie about AG when he's so truthful about the other. :-)
To: Dales
That post is a prime example of why some people are blowing smoke when they accuse you of being strong handed with the nuke button.
You are a great asset to FR, keep up the good work.

LOL!! Ah, those were the Salad Days. When we were chomping on Prozac the size of Moon Pies, searching for humourous diversions from those creatures. Thanks for the memories!

Big Bone Lick State Park was a salt lick that the dinosaurs frequented. Thus the name.

if things go bad here for the fund raiser, perhaps Jim will consider letting us pay for the banning of our choice. I do believe you're onto something here, Howlin. My former company did something called "Company Jail" to raise funds for various charities we raised money for.
It could work on FreeRepublic this way: Freepers can vote for the screen name they want "banned", one dollar per vote, submittable via PayPal or whatever. We could ask for volunteers to be "banned", and their names could go on a list. The screen name on the list who gets the most votes goes bye bye for whatever period of time, UNLESS somebody pledges an amount of money equal to the votes they received to "jail" them in "bail" money. Then they are unbanned.
A lot of people seem to have a big bone to pick with the banning policy, so let's give them something to really whine about!

It's never the wrong time for that. I just added it to my favorites, so the next time the lil one wants to to talk about Prime Numbers, it'll be there... It's certainly something the kid will never learn about watching Sesame Street!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing it wasn't a "Fish" he hit her with...

Well, it's true. FR has dropped into a non-news continuum, which we won't exit until the sports things are over.
I do not EVER want to read any criticism about the live threads Howlin does. Hers are about NEWS.
Howlin, what is your all-time favorite live thread?
Here are mine:
1. The 2000 DNC convention on the night Gore showed that home movie with the naked, pregnant Tipper self-portrait
2. The Florida Recount court case threads
3. The UN Security Council meeting on the day that Jack Straw insulted Dominic de Villepin
Those types of threads are the reason I continue to support FR.

[Besides, it's probably good to let everyone see what we have to put up with every day in the science threads.] Ambulance chaser ... mental injury lawyer --- scam artist !
Case in point...
Some of f.Christian's other greatest hits:
"evolution has become a form of tribalism --- canibalism --- mindnaping --- slavery!" "evolution is the most bigotted and racist abortion --- spiritual - intellectual rape - murder - tyranny!"
"Must be an admission... that creationism is for the reatarded - infantile and -- science is for the adult - intelligent!"
"independence of anything --- thinking is forbidden --- BLOCKED by infantile crippled minds --- radiation by lies - evolution!"
Not sure how he escaped DittoJed2's list of uncivil folks on the evolution-creation threads, but I'm sure it was just an innocent oversight...

Well said. Noble sentiments. I wish that was enough.
Those of us on the science side do tend to heed such instruction. We know we are human and that we err, we try to correct ourselves, we apologize when necessary, and we ask for forgiveness as we can.
It is the worst of the Holy Warriors, those who believe they can do no wrong, that cannot put the past behind them or even accept that they are capable of human error, much less instruction, especially in the ways of the Lord.
We can only help them to see the error of their ways; that good manners, simple politeness, and respect for their fellow man is good for all of us.
