Tell you what: Tell us how legalizing pot will IMPROVE the lives of people who don't smoke it. It already is illegal. If you want to change that you've got to come up with a reason.

"Drugs were outlawed as soon as society noticed them."
Oh, yeah. Marijuana was brand new in 1937.

Alcohol is not a "drug" for the purposes of the "legalize drugs" argument. It's already legal. So is aspirin. What is so difficult to understand there?

I'm not talking about alcohol. I'm talking about government prohibition of intoxicamts. You're too dense to see the difference.

Nope, that was when society noticed its harmful effects. Again, this is a VERY simple concept.

Right. Let's keep them illegal. I'm not dense, I'm just waiting for you to tell us why we should legalize them.

"Not once during this entire period was any comprehensive scientific study undertaken in this country of marihuana, or its effects. The drug was assumed to be a 'narcotic' to render the user psychologically dependent, to provoke violent crime, and to cause insanity. Although media attention was attracted to marihuana use around 1935, public awareness was low and public debate non-existent. As long as use remained confined to insulated minorities throughout the next quarter century, the situation remained stable. When penalties for narcotics violations escalated in the 1950's, marihuana penalties went right along with them, until a first-offense possessor was a felon subject to lengthy incarceration."

"Alcohol is not a "drug""
Game, set, match.
By the way, why do you keep talking about alcohol. Can't you make a cogent argument that pot should be illegal, except for the fact that it already is?

Alcohol shows the foolishness of prohibition, a fact you can't seem to grasp. Nope. We've been over that. The use and distribution of alcohol is very different. bump

How many people have died from liver damage or hardened arteries from smoking pot? Please point me to any news articles identifying people who have died from a pot overdose. When you find that please contrast that with people who have died from alcohol poisoning.
To: presidio9
As usual, you are just making stuff up. Tell us about all those "harmful effects" Congress cited when they made it illegal.
You demonstrate how uninformed you are with each post.

Right. Since we're back to the definitio of "drugs" let's take it up a notch to see how insane you really are. Should heroine be legal?

Can't you make a cogent argument that pot should be illegal, except for the fact that it already is? I don't have to. It is your job to show why it shouldn't be. If you can't, it stays illegal and I win. Why is that so hard for you to grasp?

You are not waiting on anything. I'll answer any question you ask. I responded to that one way back in #763.
I'm so glad all these people will know that Ozzy and you are in agreement. That is such a strong statement in support of your position.

From your article:
"Jack's laundry list of controlled substances made his father painfully aware of just how readily available drugs are. "When I started doing drugs years ago, they were hard to get, but today it's everywhere," Osbourne said. "It's not just America. It's not just California. It's not just Beverly Hills. It's not just downtown New York. It's not just London. It's all over the world" (see "All About OxyContin, The Pills Known As 'Killers' "). "
