I had a relative (by marriage) who was 33rd degree Mason. Of course, he claimed to be a Christian, but contributed little to his church while contributing lavishly to the order. (See Matt. 6:21)
That relative is now deceased, but thankfully his pastor refused to perform a Masonic funeral. I can only hope that my relative saw and accepted the true Light of the world before he passed - rather than the so-called light promised in Masonic ritual.

Masons are not taught to seek any "light", but if we were it would be God.
The only real requirement to join is Masonic Lodge is that the candidate must profess his belief in God.

Again, George Washington--one of the best humans who EVER walked this Earth--had a totally Masonic funeral. I continue to await your comment after you had negative things to say about Masonic funerals (and I am not a Freemason; I am a Freeper).

(See Matt. 6:21) While I don't know your relative's reasons for contibuting to the Masons - I have seen first hand many reason to not contribute to churches these days.

The pastor isn't qualified to perform a Masonic funeral, unless he is a Mason himself. The ceremony must be requested by the family, and then is performed by Lodge members. All I participated in were done at the funeral home, not the church.
I was a 32 degree and past master of my local and performed a few. No longer a member.
