Why do all the Mormon threads always end up in the Smokey Backroom? I know you guys don't smoke.

Clowns aren't the first thing that unicycles make me think of. Usually it makes me try to remember were my insurance card is.

Better ask our Mormon friends. They normally cause that to happen.

Again, proof that you have no concept of how the Church organization works.
My Bishop doesn't inquire as to my "hobbies."

LOL! I had a friend who wanted to go to clown school and she rode one of those silly things. Hippie parents do raise interesting kids.....
To: CARepubGal
I think you have in mind the following:
"Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it."
That statement puts him subordinate to Jesus Christ, which is proper.
And I completely agree with the statement, of course. No single man has had more impact on spiritual truth, except for Jesus Christ only.

So you are NOT asked if you have any dealings with apostates? Isn't that a Temple Recommend question (I was asked about groups of apostates but apparently the questions were changed a bit).
To: P-Marlowe
The doctrines of election and predestination are principles that would be impossible for a mormon to believe, because a mormon believes in a FINITE GOD. Well, first of all, do you or do you NOT believe in these Calvinist principles?
First you say you don't, then you imply you do. Which is it?
And of course we don't believe in a "Finite God." That statement is preposterous.
What we believe in is "free agency." And that is a gift of a loving God.

I met a bunch of hippies at a rest stop last year. They got a kick out of Tig. Nice people, but just a little bit off.

Funny. You people spin thread after thread "exposing Mormonism," full of lies, deceit and vile calumny. Then you say the problem is US.
"Blame the victim," eh? Classic. You sure your name isn't "Clinton"?

No. We're asked if we belong to apostate groups. Which doesn't include you since you're an "anti-Mormon," not an apostate.

Well, I think it's akin to segregation.
Even with missing persons. All the other missing persons cases are in "Breaking News", but the Eliz. Smart case is relegated to the backroom.
It's weird, that's all.

Well, first of all, do you or do you NOT believe in these Calvinist principles? These principles of Divine Election and predestination are not exclusive to Calvinism. They are taught clearly in the Bible. You cannot read the Bible with any sense of honesty and believe that Divine Election and Predestination are not taught there/ These principles are, however, anathema to the LDS Church since they contradict your notions of a finite man/god.
Your god is not powerful enough to even have foreknowledge since your God is riding the time line, just like you and me. Tomorrow is a new adventure for your God. My God has declared the end from the beginning. Nothing suprises my God. My God created Time. My god created every particle in the universe and all the natural laws. It is by His Word that the universe is held together. The universe is not eternal as you believe. The Universe was created by the breath of my God's mouth.
Your God has no power except it was granted to him by the gods before him. Well, Illbay, there were no gods before the One True God. Thus your god has no power at all. Your god does not exist.
You reject the principles of Divine Election and Predestination because you reject the God of the Bible.
Fine, you are in good company. Most people will reject him. But every knee shall bow before Him.

If you have never read Calvin then I think your little "history lesson" looses credibility. You repeatedly attack Calvinism making statements that make it obvious you have never read Calvin.
On the other hand, I have taken the time to read the primary sources materials (BoM, D&C, PoGP, etc.).
***So, inform me. Tell me what I OUGHT to know, not what I think I ought to know, about your beliefs.***
The Institutes are on line, read them for yourself.
If you choose not to read them then be forewarned that I will note that you have never read Calvin whenever you make your "second-hand" slaps. I invite others to do the same.
BTW, I don't agree with Calvin at every point. I don't need to I do not consider him as a prophet. But at least he did not pretend to be one.

Oh, and my "cruel God" made sure it never happened, BTW. He selected the noblest man and woman from among His Spirit children, to be our first parents, knowing (He IS God, after all) that they would make the right choice.
KJV Genesis 1:26-28
26. And God said, Let us make man select a couple of men in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27. So God created selected man in his own image, in the image of God created selected he him; male and female created selected he them.
28. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply 'cause I got's lotsa little spirit chilen, jes like you, that's gotta Come On Down!!, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Yup.. us poor, stupid Protestants are the messed up ones all right!

Could it be that you are irrelevant, and not worth the waste of time? Possibly, but I doubt it.
You see, there ARE lurkers, who are NOT irrelevant, that would really like to know, and you are depriving them of your knowledge.
Why?
