LIBERTARIANS; THE SOCIALIST'S BEST FRIEND

TIME FOR AN END TO THE CONSERVATIVE INFIGHTING MARK A SITY 11/6/02

When WI taxpayers burden skyrockets, we have Ed Thompson to thank. When Milwaukee and the surrounding area are saddled with a light rail system few want, and no one will ride, we have Ed Thompson to thank. When caps on property taxes are removed, and property taxes skyrocket, we have Ed Thompson to thank. When welfare reform is de-reformed in WI, we have Ed Thompson to thank. When public schools in WI get even worse, and the public school teachers get huge raises, we have Ed Thompson to thank. When WI residents find their rights to defend themselves against criminals who break into their homes weakened, we have Ed Thompson to thank. When companies leave WI, or decide not to set up shop here due to our repressive tax structure, we have Ed Thompson to thank. When Gov Jim "bingo" Doyle rewards his contributors, at the expense of the taxpayers (as he has a history of doing), we have Ed Thompson to thank.

Who is Ed Thompson? Ed is the brother of Tommy, our former governor; the current HHS Secretary. Ed was the Libertarian candidate for governor in WI. Ed gave the Governor's Mansion to Bingo Jim by getting 10% of the vote. Governor McCallum lost the election by only 3%. Thanks Ed.

IL can say much the same for Cal Skinner. I don't know how much of the vote Cal got, but it is likely that Jim Ryan would have won there rather than the Democrat were it not for Cal. One good thing for WI residents over IL residents; at least we can pronounce and spell Bingo Jim's name. I won't even try either for the IL Governor Elect!

Let's keep in mind that Libertarians and Republicans are generally going in the same direction. True, the Republicans don't want to go as far as Libertarians, and there are some very contrary views. However, both generally want a smaller federal government that is less intrusive. Democrats on the other hand want bigger and bigger government. They want hand outs. They want dependency. They want Socialism rather than freedom! They want gun control rather than criminal control. They want ignorant sheeple rather than an informed, educated self-dependent population. I prefer much of the Libertarian agenda to that of the Republicans, but I find the Democrat agenda totally repulsive. Libertarians often hand elections to the Democrats, by taking away conservative leaning votes. When a Libertarian candidate's message resonates with the public; Democrats win! A Democratic win doesn't help Republicans, Libertarians, or Constitutionalists! It sets back all of our causes. It is well past time for Libertarians and Republicans to get together to defeat the common enemy. We can work out our differences later; let's get rid of the common threat first! As far as my views; neither Libertarians nor Republicans go far enough; I am a Constitutionalist! Yet, I generally vote Republican; I'm a realist. When we break the stranglehold of the left, then we can fight each other; but let's fight each other on our terms, not theirs!

Now, as far as Ed Thompson goes; well I have to steal a line from one of my favorite movies (They Call Me Trinity). I'm not mad at Ed, I'm mad at his ma. She should have strangled him, or at least drown him when he was born.

Your characterization of the Republican vs. Democratic party is so ridiculous it's insulting. Republicans do everything you listed under the Democrats.

Tax money is earned by tax payers.

George W. Bush said that no American should pay more than a third if his income to the federal government. So, everything up to and including a third is game to him.

The Constitution is still viable...

Sure it is. Asset forfeiture, War on Drugs, gun-control, foreign-aid, farm subsidies, corporate welfare, meddling in education, corporate bailouts, foreign bailouts, Social Security, anti-trust lawsuits, blocking mergers, threatening Canada with trade sanctions, prescription drug subsidies, etc.

Take a look at this list and then tell me how Republicans respect the Constitution.

Libertarians have much more in common with Republicans than Democrat/Socialists.

Libertarians have practically nothing in common with Republicans. They are on opposite ends of the political spectrum.

Republicans and Libertarians are NOT on opposite ends - Libertarians and Democrats are! Republicans are in the middle.

Sure, Republicans might take up to 1/3 of the wages of a highly paid person (with less well off people paying less than that). However, Democrats will be happy to take 2/3 or more!

Now you are blaming gun control on Republicans? Excuse me, but the NRA's "F-Troup" are all Democrats! Which party fights new and intrusive gun laws that will only empower criminals and the government? It sure isn't the Democrats! Nor is it the Libertarians. Why not the Libertarians? Because they don't get a vote in congress! They can't muster the votes to get anyone other than Democrats elected.

Sometimes the truth hurts, but it needed to be said.

Don't be silly here; look who the REAL ENEMY is! We have a chance to defeat the common enemy and maybe have them expose for the nation who they really are, and what they really support.

Voting for a candidate that doesn't have a chance of winning, and thereby giving a race to the unltimate political enemy only empowers the forces of socialism!

By the way, perhaps I should restate this. I support much of the Libertarian platform. If I thought there was a good chance to get a Libertarian elected I'd probably vote for him/her.

However, I have watched elections for a while. I watched Ross Perot give us Clinton. I also watched Ralph Nader split the liberal vote and prevent Al Whore from being in charge.

I view most libertarian votes to be 1/2 of a vote for the Democrat - since that is the end result. Nothing is worse for the nation than having a liberal in a position to implement their schemes.

Also, when is the last time you saw a Democrat sponsor a meaningful tax cut? Or conceled carry legislation? Or a tough bill that would mean punnishment for violent criminals?

You may view Republicans as not pulling in the same direction, but the ones that are really trying to pull is down are the Democrats!

Republicans and Libertarians are NOT on opposite ends...

The overwhelming evidence available would tend to disagree with you.

Republicans might take up to 1/3 of the wages of a highly paid person (with less well off people paying less than that). However, Democrats will be happy to take 2/3 or more!

Both alternatives are unacceptable. While Republicans may take less of your money via taxes they historically take more of it via inflation (borrowing money into existence). Over the past 20 years the federal government has grown more rapidly under Republican presidents than under Democratic presidents. Bush's tax cut last year wasn't really a tax cut at all because it was not accompanied by any reduction in government spending. All it did was rearrange the burden of government. You still helped pay for the $2.1 trillion budget if not by taxes then by inflation.

Now you are blaming gun control on Republicans? Excuse me, but the NRA's "F-Troup" are all Democrats! Which party fights new and intrusive gun laws that will only empower criminals and the government?

Simply stopping the enactment of new gun-control isn't satisfactory. Gun-control must be repealed, not more vigorously enforced. Bush and Ashcroft have said they believe in an individual's right to keep and bear arms and then say they want stricter enforcement of the existing gun-control laws. That is unacceptable.

Voting for a candidate that doesn't have a chance of winning, and thereby giving a race to the unltimate political enemy only empowers the forces of socialism!

Libertarian candidates appear on every single ballot that Republican candidates are on. They have exactly the same chance of winning.

You're worried about empowering the forces of socialism? Did you check out my list?

Herein lies the problem. You expect candidates to win without voting for them.

I watched Ross Perot give us Clinton.

What evidence do you have that Perot voters would've voted for Bush? For all you know most of the Perot voters might've been former non-voters.

...when is the last time you saw a Democrat sponsor a meaningful tax cut?

When is the last time you saw Republicans reduce government?

Or conceled carry legislation?

When is the last time you saw Republicans repeal any gun-control?

Or a tough bill that would mean punnishment for violent criminals?

I've watched Republicans enact laws that punish people for not committing any crimes at all.

That happened right here in the Bay area of California. Ellen Tauscher ran unopposed by a Republican for her congressional seat. If every Republican had at least voted for the Libertarian opponent there'd possibly be one less 'Rat in congress.

Libertarians managed to get an initiative on the ballot in Massachusetts to repeal the state income tax. Republicans could have helped pass the measure but instead chose to prove what Libertarians have been saying all along and help defeat it instead. Both Republican governor Jane Swift and Republican governor-elect Mitt Romney publicly denounced the measure.

In Tennessee, Republican governor Don Sundquist ran for office on a campaign of no state income tax (Tenn is one of about 6 states without an income tax). After elected he failed to use his veto to reign in wasteful government spending and ran up an $800 million deficit. Then he tried to get a state income tax passed. He failed to get an income tax but succeeded in raising the sales tax. Some counties in Tennessee now enjoy a 10% sales tax.

Bush Sr. said, "Read my lips. No new taxes." You know what happened after that.

Republicans controlled both Houses of Congress from 1995 through 2001. The federal budget grew from $1.4 trillion to $2.1 trillion during that time.

Republicans controlled both Houses of Congress and the WH for most of 2001, until that one Republican senator defected to the Democrats (so he wouldn't have to pretend he supported limited government anymore). Republicans could've repealed the estate tax but instead decided to phase it out over 10 years. No gun-control was repealed.

Senator Phil Graham from Texas said on national TV that Social Security would be phased out in 65 years under the Republican plan.

And that is why the ACU gives Paul a 70 voting record for 2001! Very conservative voting record -- right?

I have no knowledge of how the ACU determine their ratings or upon whom they confer high or low scores or what those scores mean.

I believe Ron Paul's latest initiative is to abolish the Federal Reserve. I don't believe he is joined by many Democrats or Republicans in this cause.

He doesn't appear to have gained much by switching his registration from Libertarian to Republican.

Best regards,

At your earliest convenience could you point me to some sites which might instruct me in these topics?

First off, ever hear of Ronald Reagan? Secondly, didn't Bush (this one) pass a tax cut, a small one, but still a cut. Thirdly, if Al Whore would have been in the White House, do you think we'd have gotten ANY tax cut? If Al Whore was in the White House, would he have repealed gun control measures, or added to them?

In addition, we are dealing with 2 diferent branches, Exec and Legislative. Bush had a split in the Senate, with the VP as a tie breaker. However, on "his" side, he also had Jumpin Jim, Lincoln Chaffe, and the Mcaniac (a swarn enemy). With what he had to work with, he did pretty good.

Also, let's not forget what kind of judges Socialists put on the bench; that can do damage for many decades to come.

Over the past 20 years the federal government has grown more rapidly under Republican
presidents than under Democratic presidents

Basic civics would show you that a President's power has limits (hint, you might want to read the Consitution; or what's left of it). The legislature also has limits (see previous hint). Plus, Republicans (indeed, and Conservative) have additional limits, primarily the press. Remember the budget fight of '95? Remember the lies and scare tactics. If the press was interested in the truth, rather than the Socialist's agenda, those lies would have been laghed off. Yet, with the press carrying the DNC's water, the uninformed (the sucker moms & such) bought it.

Neither Republicans or Libertarians can get anything done without the power to combat the Socialists. The one thing that the founders didn't anticipate was the press taking sides. Although I don't know what they could have done to combat this problem had they anticipated it.
