Not legal here for sure but I wonder if is is not accepted in some groups in America. On a very liberal bulletin board, a woman just told me immigrants are doing it here. Do you, or anyone else, know of cases?

This is an issue we should not let fade away. The left wants to blame America for the attacks. They need to know what kind of a culture they are defending. While is is incorrect to associate all Moslems with this practice, the question does need to be asked why Christians were able to stamp out slavery, thugee and suttee while Moslems have not been able to eliminate either slavery nor female genital mutilation.
