Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy struck a blow at radical LGBTQ activism as “Pride Month” ended.
Duffy sent a letter to all 50 state governors, the D.C. mayor, and Puerto Rico’s governor, a letter which he also shared with The Daily Signal. Trump’s transportation secretary told the governors to work on removing distractions, including woke political symbols, from roads and intersections.
In the letter, Duffy wrote, “Roads are for safety, not political messages or artwork. Today I am calling on governors in every state to ensure that roadways, intersections, and crosswalks are kept free of distractions.”
He added, “Far too many Americans die each year to [sic] traffic fatalities to take our eye off the ball.” He assured the governors that the Transportation Department “stands ready to help communities across the country make their roads safer and easier to navigate.”
Just this June, a Rhode Island man was reportedly arrested for leaving skidmarks on a rainbow crosswalk. Hopefully, Duffy’s new guidance will help the man as his case moves forward.
Duffy’s letter is part of the effort to push the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Arterials for Everyone through Reliable Operations and Distraction-Reducing Strategies, or SAFE ROADS, initiative, Daily Signal explained.

The public roads belong to all of us, not just those who want everyone else to stop and look at this specific group.
Sanity feels so weird.
There will be people who will call this “nanny state” or “micromanaging”, but forget about having to wear a mask on a city bus because Uncle Joe required it. Crosswalks are for safely crossing the street. Rainbow designs and the like are distractions that could lead to accidents.

wow. a wholly good idea from a gov’t official?
practical common sense that will save lives. their woke nonsense is very distracting on the roads or in crosswalks. some LGBT????? idiot had the idea for rainbow flags carried across crosswalks. kids started waving the flags wildly while running across; older drivers were confused or startled; and eventually the flags just sort of disappeared, thank God.

More than distractions, has the colorful paint for the attention-whoring road graffiti been approved for use on public roads so as not to be a slip or skid hazard? Seems that the paintings could be a liability to local governments if a pedestrian fell or a motorcycle rider or bicyclist went down because of them.
Crosswalks are universal. They should look the same, or similar so that no matter where you are in the world, they are easily recognizable. It’s only common sense, but then there are plenty of people out there who have none.
Is it now legal to burn rubber to erase such graffiti?

There’s one in little Rockland, ME at an intersection in the downtown area. It looks more like a red green blue mess than a crosswalk.
