According to UN estimates released last year, Europe already hit its peak population in 2021 and has slowly started its population decline.

How did this happen, and can this trend reverse?

To answer that question, we track the total fertility rate of every European country per UN estimates for 2025.

Monaco's fertility is skewed upwards due to its small population and high proportion of wealthy families.

This refutes the entire declining birth rate narrative I heard in the past 20 years: wealth is the cause of shrinking birth rates. And Monaco has almost zero muslims.

European governments have done everything they possibly can to destroy the people they govern over.

Should come as no surprise.

European leaders speak of being the ‘master of their own fate’ in relation to the USA and China.

“Master of their own fate” sounds like “Masturbate” to me and Europe has gotten good at that the Netherlands with its porn you would expect a 1.4 rate but Ukraine at 1.0 wow what a lovely war but that horror probably makes them want to go full Onanian just to cope with the pain.

The chart is not complete and, as such, it is deceiving. The situation is far worse than shown on the chart.

Native-born Western Europeans and Brits have a fertility rate 0.2 - 0.3 points below those shown.

Invader moslems (now 15% in many countries) have a fertility rate of 3 - 4.

Guess how “Jihad by Emigration” turns out.

Source for below is Wikipedia:
America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It is a 2006 non-fiction book by the Canadian newspaper columnist and writer Mark Steyn. It forecasts the downfall of Western civilization due to internal weaknesses and Muslim population growth in Western countries and the world generally.

Based on his own observations, Steyn says that the fall of the Western world is caused by three factors: demographic decline, unsustainability of the advanced Western social democratic state, and exhaustion of civilization.

By 2007, Steyn's America Alone had already convinced many American conservatives that there was an imminent and inevitable Muslim invasion.

Due to politics and the Labour Party being reliant on the votes of their minority voters, the UK appear to be in the worst shape of all Western European nations.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sadiq Khan (current Mayor of London) to become the PM by 2030.

This trend will probably accelerate. Societal collapse has happened many times before in history, but not on this scale.

The Roman Empire took centuries for it to collapse.

Now it'll just take a generation or two.

The wrong term is being used here.

Fertility rate is the number of children born to one woman over their lifetime.

Birthrate which this is showing is the number of births per 1,000 of population.

When the taxpayers are oppressed to support the nonworking classes the taxpayers can not support their own children too.

Just for a wider perspective, the only developed nation of any decent size (Monaco is tiny) with a positive total fertility rate (TFR) is Israel. Japan, China, America, Canada and so on are all declining. South Korea is the worst in the world at 0.7 TFR, meaning that each generation is 1/3 the size of the prior generation. And the trends are all towards this getting worse, not plateauing or rebounding.

The growth of the Islamic population is a real problem, but some people exaggerate the notion of Muslims outbreeding non-Muslims; their TFR is dropping like a rock as well. In Iran the TFR is under 1.7, in line with Europe, for example.

Even if Trump hadn't shut down our open borders, I believe a drop in immigration would have been inevitable as the pool of available immigrants plummets in many of the source countries due to steeply dropping TFRs. I predict that over the next decade or so their will develop a full-fledged "population crisis" mentality that will be comparable to climate alarmism today.

For example, today only the US and one or two other nations really try to prohibit people from leaving for other countries, by using coercive confiscatory taxes that force a person to abandon much of their wealth if they want to change citizenship. Expect this approach to spread dramatically and other techniques to appear limiting the ability of people to leave a country.

Africa will be an interesting case. As the last population growth engine its leaders will belatedly realize they hold a lot of power as they can provide manpower to nations falling critical short of labor. I expect this to take the form of large-scale programs to send "guest workers" to other nations in return for payment. The guest workers will be 2nd-class citizens at best; little more than slaves in other circumstances.

Monaco is too small to be seriously taken into account. It is a statistical anomaly.

Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Malta, and Cyprus are small countries like Monaco and these countries all have birth rates similar to continental Europe.

What makes Monaco different than these other small countries? I think I have the answer. Can you can figure it out?

Monaco is a microstate, with an area of about 500 acres (0.77 square miles). The only smaller country is Vatican City.

The next-smallest country in that series is Liechtenstein, which is roughly a hundred times bigger.

There's your answer!

No, Monaco is the only country in Europe that doesn't have an income tax and isn't a welfare state.

This is a pan-European problem, in nations historically Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant, and even in Muslim Turkey, Albania, and Bosnia. It is visible even in culturally conservative countries like Hungary and Slovakia. The problem is worse in the former Soviet bloc, nations that attract few Third World immigrants. We are little better: native born non-Hispanic whites have a birth rate of 1.55; native born non-Hispanic blacks are little better at 1.71. Even Hispanics fall below the replacement rate at 1.88. The one state that has the highest birth rate is Utah, with a birth rate of 2.33, attributable to the Mormon religion of a majority of Utahans. The states with the lowest birth rates tend to correspond with those that have large numbers of people who report no religious affiliation. (In states like Rhode Island and Massachusetts, there are a lot of people who identify as Catholics even though they have not darkened a church door in decades.)

This tends to support the assumption that the decline in the family and religious belief, combined with easy access to contraception and abortion and no fault divorce, is the cause of the drop in birth rates.
