Former NFL player Antonio Brown has come under fire after branding Notre Dame football player Charles Du a 'ch**k'. Du went viral on Thursday as the Fighting Irish secured an emotional Sugar Bowl win over Georgia in the wake of the deadly New Orleans terror attack.
The cornerback, a walk-on from Beijing who went to high school in California, had his name written in Chinese text on the back of his jersey. A clip of Du was posted by ESPN ahead of Thursday's game and, at the time of writing, had been viewed more than 2million times on X.
Former wide receiver Brown reposted the video on his own account and wrote alongside it: 'Ch**k of the Day'
The 36-year-old, who has a history of controversial antics on social media, added: 'A Legend… got an NIL deal for this kid' 'Stop with the racist comments. The game is international now but here you are still using slurs,' one fan wrote. 'Come on Antonio that’s the same as me saying the N word,' another added

Anyway, how racist can someone be? Who knows how to pronounce his name? Lots of dialects in China(estimated > 300.). Now, we gotta cater to his gender identity, pronouns AND his dialect? What a stupid stunt.
If I was staying for a long time in China, I would use the best Chinese translation of my name and the dialect of the town I was in. And would use Chinese notation. Unless requested not to do such.

If you’ve paid attention to Brown’s career, you would have a pretty good sense that he has a couple of screws loose. Good ball player. Not a “bad person”. Just a bit off.
Racial epithets are too common to be “vile”. The person saying them may be indeed, but the word is just an attempted insult.
