A new study published in the journal Current Biology found that an injection of psilocybin — the active ingredient in magic mushrooms — potentially provides long-lasting relief from chronic pain.
Scientists at the University of Michigan injected the feet of rats with formaldehyde to simulate the effects of chronic inflammation.
The rats were separated into three different groups. The first group was given a low dose of psilocybin, the second was given a high dose, and the third got a saltwater placebo. Scientists exposed the rats to pricks on their feet and hot plates to gauge their reaction.

It worked for Nazis and Japanese doctors.
Messed with shrooms once, made me sleepy. Not a big deal.
Chewed on some peyote out in the desert once and I had a cow for like 15 minutes, felt like a lifetime. No shit. Never been back.
“The Road to Eleusis.” R. Gordon Wasson.
Animals so effing stoned on powerful psychedelics that they barely felt the cigarette lighter held to their feet by a creepy grad student.
And yeah you will puke. You will see things that you cannot imagine. Won’t take long. Sick as a dog. I don’t recommend it.
well they are not addicting like oxycodone is. Natives have used them for centuries.
I think it depends on the dosage. High dosages of drugs can be poison. Lower doses therapeutic.
“Sounds like Vegemite..!”
” Take a brewing waste product and through the magic of advertising/internet brainwashing people into eating the stuff thinking it is going to do wonders.”
Before that, it was snake oil...
Experts I talked to said not only is it a poisnous fungus but it also has tons of pesticides.
“Messed with shrooms once, made me sleepy. Not a big deal.”
Wasn’t absorbed well.
“Mystics have been ingesting organic hallucinogens for millenia.”
Reindeer piss and Amanita Muscaria. :)
CBD has nothing to do with fungus except that it is an anti-fungal. You’re confused. And the use of pesticides is strictly regulated on cannabis crops in my state.
And, for that matter, fungi are not “poisonous” but some do produce mycotoxins.
“So has Aaron Rodgers.”
Yeah? Well, he did play at Berkeley, so it would not really surprise me.
I was posting about the ‘shrooms.
Ok,not sure why you replied to a comment specifically about CBD.
Because the differences between ‘shrooms and CBD is LOL.
it’s like comparing arsenic and tea with the takeaway that experts said caffiene is bad for you.
I did some with a friend back in college. We walked around campus at night & I remember everything was so beautiful. Colors shimmered, the sky & stars were breathtaking. We both felt so happy. It was a wonderful experience. I had never done it before & the person who gave it to us told us to chew it & then drink 7 up to mask the dirt taste. I never regretted it.
There was something in a brownie I had in college that resulted in an experience just like that but I don’t think it was psilocybin.
Agree. Sick
I think I’ll pass. The mild pain meds do a number on me.
