Two Tennessee teenagers have been released without bond after being charged with shooting a 15-year-old in the head due to the county's new 'progressive' bail system.
Edio White, 18 and Conner Tucker, 15, were driving to 15-year-old Anthony Mason's home in Memphis on Thanksgiving Day.
The pair attempted to use a staged firearm deal to rob Mason, who was seen leaving his house that morning and engaging with two people inside a vehicle.
According to police, when the deal went south, the teenagers began to struggle over the gun, with Tucker pointing a gun outside the car and shooting Mason in the head.
Mason immediately collapsed as Tucker and White, acting as getaway drive, drove off.
The two have since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted especially aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a weapon.
White was released on his own recognizance, which has sparked outrage.
According to Fox 13, both White's attorney and the DA's office still recommended a $75,000 bond but Judge Bill Anderson recommended White be released on his own recognizance.
Shelby County District Attorney's Office said in a statement that 'the judge made the ROR (released on recognizance) decision.'
Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Republican, lashed out at the decision on X.
'After fatally shooting a 15-year-old in the head, the Memphis man responsible for his death has been released from custody,' she wrote. 'He wasn't even required to pay bond.'
Criminals belong behind bars. NOT out on the streets.
Anderson - who supervises the judicial commissioners who set bail - has staunchly defended the new system in the past.
'Everybody has the right to bail,' he told Action News 5 in August. 'You cannot lock people up and throw away the key, you just can't.'

The murderers were sons of Obeyme in case you’re wondering.
[[’Everybody has the right to bail,’]]
Yeah? Well the victims had a right to live, BUT were denied that right by the perpetrator- what are you gonna do for the victim?
I wonder how this Anderson person feels about the J-6 prisoners?
Of course they were. That’s precisely the reason the stupidity was insisted upon in the first place. In order to make sure that black criminals wouldn’t be inconvenienced with bail or incarceration prior to conviction.
Why? Well, there’s just too many black in prison and/or heading to prison. It’s just not fair. That’s why we’re at this point today.
Pandering to blacks over the decades has gotten us nowhere good, and it’s continuing to get worse.
I suppose the next step will be that blacks cannot be arrested or incarcerated for any crime at all.
The crooks know that its a free for all until Trump get in office. If he doesnt the nation will implode.
just black yutes acting like, well, black yutes... nothing to see
Raises lot’s of questions. I am sure Black Lives Matter agrees with the outcome.
Memphis is a black democrat hellhole.
The only ‘surprise’ is they’re not beheading their victims... yet. The Memphis legal system isn’t helping the black community - they’re enabling black criminals who prey on the black community. Disgusting.
An innocent reader has to do some digging to find out the 15-year old was murdered.
Not just shot: murdered.
Memphis is now lost. It is amazing just how rampant crime has ruined Memphis and Denver.

He's done this before, based upon negative comments posted by others on his social media site.
Sorry I don't know how to post photos in comments here on FR.
Black lives matter, except to other blacks.
Too bad the legislatures don’t have the guts to impeach and fire these criminals loving judges.
Unfortunately that goes without saying now.
This is how you get vigilantism and jury nullification.
The older killer can figure all crimes are freebies at this point...anything that wouldn’t bring the death penalty.
Rationally, why would he even fear the death penalty? The system is soft on him, he would likely be spared.
And even if he did earn the death penalty, for some absolute atrocity, he would be in prison for twenty or thirty years before he was executed, if the death penalty weren’t abolished meanwhile.
He doesn’t expect to live twenty or thirty years on the streets.
It’s lost as a city to people able to escape it - people who have the means to get the hell out - and live in decent cities.
But it’s not ‘lost’ to the folks who can’t get out - for them it’s the hellhole they’ll likely live the rest of their lives. The Memphis legal system enables criminals who prey on the black community - which is really sick. And that evil knocks down housing prices making escape harder.
This reeks of ‘George Soros’ style evil...
These Soros DAs will probably continue this practice until relatives of those who are murdered take their rage out on those releasing the murderers.
You voters in Memphis and Denver need to pay closer attention to the background of judges before elections.
