The footage appears to show the groups outside the Voodoo Room on the historic Sixth Street of Austin's entertainment district.
The altercation seems to start when one woman grabs a phone out of the hands of another and a Marine tries to intervene.
Then, a man in a white long-sleeve shirt attempts to throw a punch at a different Marine and misses, as a group of his fellow military men rush to his defense.
While some Marines try to separate the men as they curse at each other, tensions seem to escalate and an all-out brawl begins.
The civilians and Marines exchange blows and several are knocked to the ground as Austin Police and Texas Highway Patrol officers start to break up the fight.
Bystanders cheered on the Marines, who appeared to far outnumber the civilians in the quarrel.
One man is heard chanting, 'USA! USA!' as officers work to break up the fight.
At least one man is seen being detained on the video. By the end of the video mounted police arrive and sirens are heard off camera.
In July, the Austin Police and Texas Department of Public Safety resumed a partnership to increase the police presence and deter crime on the popular downtown bar street.

That’s a keen eye. Korea Service Medal means a long time ago.
that was about the very end of the ‘ok’ era. That area was totally ransacked and vandalized during summer of 2020 too. I went down there a day after a particularly bad riot.. maybe end of June 2020 and it looked like a warzone.
Covers remain on if you’re under arms.
Well surly Im wrong. Its not a Korean war service medal. I thought it was some sort of deployment award. Its baby blue and behind the Nation Defense Service Medal. Maybe is a reserve award?
Marine corp ball :)
“Korea Service Medal means a long time ago.”
Incorrect. It means that Marine served at least 30 consecutive days or 60 non consecutive days in South Korea. GW Bush authorized that one.

They were not under arms. Had they been that little dust up may have ended differently.

Checked with the front door obviously before a fight spilled outside. You don’t wear it while brawling.
Good to see a squad with high morale. Cops had no interest in it when it was blacks trying to start the fight. But when the grunts decided to finish it... the cops swarm in. LOL
They were in uniform, obviously coming from a USMC party. And yes, blues ARE authorized out in town, as are some other uniforms.
“Use to be a great place to hangout before the savages began showing up in large numbers.”
Yep..... started going downhill late 70’s, early 80’s.
Yeah sure clown. Marines come in two sizes... scrawny and mean, and big and mean. It’s rare they have that modern bearded weightlifter look.
And -guaranteed- they can all run and hump you into the ground.
And yeah, there was a Corporal (NCO) with them, and several lance coolies. A squad was out together.
Exactly! And we love and do anything for Corpsmen. (And they always have the right to say “F-him... I’m delivering a baby”.)
“”Incorrect. It means that Marine served at least 30 consecutive days or 60 non consecutive days in South Korea. GW Bush authorized that one.””
Thanks for that...been a long time since I was privy to anything “Marine” - first husband and he served in Japan during the Korean “police action.” Before there was a rank of Lance Cpl. also. Hate to say it as I expect Marines to be pretty appealing but those Marines seemed to be kind of “ short and pudgy?” Maybe my observation isn’t as good as yours. You had to have pretty good powers of observation in that melee...
that makes sense...
And if the scrotes woulda punched their corpsman, it would have escalated to a -whole- new level of violence.
“The Marines are looking for a few good men. Unfortunately you ain’t it.”
They are so happy right now. They are the most famous Marines on earth at this moment.
I’m becoming a very old fuddy duddy. How about Marines not go into bars? Nothing good to come of it.
Semper Fi!
A bit to Fuddy.
I ran across some new graduates at a Wilmington bar a few years back. They were having a grand old time and me being an AF vet got them two rounds.
They deserve the respect for bettering their lives and those around them.
The people at this incident decided to F with them.
It is what it is.
