They will haul you to jail and leave your wallet, Id, and anything else they pulled out of your pockets or the car on their hood to just blow away and be lost. Once they have decided you are guilty they don’t care about your personal items at all. Apparently not even your children.

I think the IQ cap is real. In the last 15 years I have come to this conclusion as most likely true. I have interacted with many that I would be afraid to let drive my car let alone enforce the law. I wouldn’t hire them...

Difference is between the funeral services and a reception/wake party after the funeral. But the wake party is also considered part of the funeral. Wakes used to be held before the services, now days they are held after the services and it is usually just a party with all the family and friends including kids to eat, drink, and be merry in remembrance of the loved one. And yes, the parties can last all night sometimes.
Just like the wedding reception that follows a wedding.

Yes they are, they can last all night. You have never been to a funeral reception/wake party after the formal services with all the friends and family including the kids eating, drinking, and being merry? The reception is also part of the “funeral”. That is why it is called a “Funeral Reception”.

Why should one have to explain the “technical” difference between wedding or wedding reception to an officer when he asks where you are coming from? Is it going to make any difference with his procedure?
Just as a “wedding” includes the reception, so does a “funeral” include the reception. Amazing how many in this thread have not made this obvious logical connection.
Yes, one of the previous posters explained that to me as really a point of semantics. I’m around people who differentiate between wakes, funerals (this is mostly a religious ceremony) and rememberances (not usually with a preacher but can be). Receptions are dinners.
Some of these things require a lot of planning, some not so much. That may be why the segments of the event are differentiated in the first place.
I’m getting the impression that calling the whole thing a funeral is a kind of BYOB event. I’ve got nothing against that and can see the upside to it.

They are a package deal. When you tell someone you are going to a “funeral” there is no need to be detailed and technical correct and say “Funeral services and Funeral Reception.” Why? Unless they are extremely dense, logic dictates that traditionally they always come as a package deal. It would be like needing to explain to someone that a “car” includes a backseat and a front seat. Why have to explain this obvious fact?
Where you have it or how you have it has absolutely no bearing on how you label it. There are no rules that dictate how a reception should be practiced or labelled. Renting a VFW hall, the Elks club, a restaurant, at a park, or at someone’s home. They are all the same in a “Funeral” package that includes a reception and party.
In the case of this article what was easier and quicker for both parties? When asked where he was coming from should he have gotten detailed and told the officer he was coming from “funeral services then a funeral reception, there were a hundred people there, my wife and I had steak, hers was medium and mine was rare, and the kids had hotdogs, and we all had soda to drink”?
Or just “From a funeral officer”? Why would a cop or anyone actually need more than that to understand that it is a whole day event package with all the trimmings? And yes, it is not uncommon at all for them to last until the bar closes at 2:00 AM. Even at the VFW or Elk’s club.
With all respect just pointing out it does indeed happen and is common, especially with special events. Whether you like it happening or not is of course your own rightful moral opinion. But keep in mind, many school functions like evening concerts or Football and Basketball games last until 10:30-11:00 at night. And most times everyone including their children grab a bite to eat on the way home after the game and may not get home until midnight. So by what you claim there should also not be any school functions which keep them up that late?
