An influential US medical panel is warning about the dangers of a rapidly spreading deadly fungus β just a week after the hit zombie show The Last of Us wrapped up.
The American College of Physicians (ACAP) said the rise and spread of antibiotic-resistant cases of Candida auris, also known as C auris, is 'particularly concerning'.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) already described the fungus, which kills up to 60 percent of people it infects, as an 'urgent threat' in 2019.
A person is infected after coming into direct contact with a contaminated object. It spreads from person to person by direct contact between them. Strict handwashing, especially in hospital environments, can prevent its spread.
But the new research from the CDC has revealed case numbers more than tripled across America between 2020 and 2021, with antibiotic resistant strains also becoming more common. The fungus was first reported in the US in 2016.
Three years later, the CDC gave the fungus its top level of concern rating because it is frequently multi-drug resistant, is passed on easily in healthcare settings and can cause serious infections with high mortality rates.
The main symptoms are fever and chills which do not improve. The fungus can cause many different kinds of infection, such as in the bloodstream, wounds or ears
Cases of 'Valley Fever' have risen 20-fold since the turn of the century.
People catch the fungus through physical contact with an infected person.
The fungus kills more than one in three people with invasive C auris (where the fungus has caused an infection affecting the blood, heart or brain).
The researchers looked at clinical and screening cases. Because screening is not conducted uniformly across the United States, the number of C auris cases may be underestimated

Every once in a while. A couple of drops under the tongue. It's....it's just awful.
Well, of course it is.
The American College of Physicians (ACP)
“In 2015, the ACP advocated for a public health approach to gun violence, supporting restrictions on automatic weapons, universal background checks, and legal mechanisms to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill.”
Good suggestion!
By itself it is awful, that concentrated. But its great. Also for keeping skin wounds clean and killing infections. Though I would a few drops in a much larger amount of carrier oil.
OK, that’s funny right there!
Time to get the right decorations boxes down from the shelves in the basement.

I understand itβs mainly spread by plowing fields and dust storms.
BOL!
Everywhere!
Another excellent reason to avoid hospitals!
Can a healthy person get Candida auris?
Healthy people usually do not get invasive infections caused by Candida auris.
Most people who get C. auris infections are already sick from other medical conditions.
The most common symptoms of infection are fever and chills that do not improve after treatment for a suspected bacterial infection.Nov 10, 2022
