Kemp done being underestimated, aims to steer GOP past Trump
Associated Press ^ | January 9, 2023 | Jeff Amy and Bill Barrow

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is done being underestimated.

Having vanquished both a Donald Trump-backed Republican challenger and Democratic star Stacey Abrams to win reelection, Kemp is looking to expand his influence in his second term, free from the caricature of the gun-toting, pickup-driving, migrant-catching country boy that emerged during his first campaign for governor.

A new vision of Kemp steering his party toward a non-Trumpian conservatism made its debut in his November victory speech after it became clear that he had defeated Abrams by a much larger margin in their rematch than he had in their tight 2018 matchup.

“This election proves that when Republicans stay focused on real-world solutions that put hardworking people first we can win now, but also in the future, y’all,” Kemp said.

Kemp pledged that night to “stay in the fight” and followed with concrete steps: He kept his political operation running and lent it to the unsuccessful Senate runoff campaign of Herschel Walker, while forming a federal political action committee that lets the governor influence races for Congress and president. He hasn’t ruled out running for the U.S. Senate in 2026 or even seeking the White House.

Beyond his own advancement, Kemp’s victory could provide a blueprint for Republicans in competitive states after voters rejected many of the Trump-molded candidates in 2022. It’s a less showy approach, aimed at luring independents and moderates while still achieving conservative policy goals.

“If Republicans looking forward are focused on winning, I think a lot of folks will be calling Gov. Kemp and wanting his advice, but also trying to replicate the things he did here,” said Cody Hall, Kemp’s political adviser. …

I’ve lived in GA 33 years and Kemp’s been a good Governor, the best since I moved here.

People forget Kemp was anti-mask, anti-lockdown. The MSM called him a murderer and urged people not to visit GA. Trump blasted Kemp for not keeping businesses closed in 2020. Kemp was way ahead of Trump and DeSantis in keeping businesses open and keeping the GA economy going.

He’s been a good conservative Governor. People spouting off and saying they would never vote for him have zero credibility, they’re just Free Republic Assistant Democrats who would rather see far-left Stacy Abrams running GA.

Don’t worry. This soon to be 80 year old man is going to pull a rabbit in his hat and somehow win an election that will make the 2020 election, that he LOST. (Go ahead and post your usual 100 paragraph posts about cheating and how 99.99% of the population actual is madly in love with Trump. Losing is losing no matter what the circumstances. This includes not being able to counter cheating) look like hopscotch with the deck stacked even further against him and even more rampant cheating.

How? I dunno. Its been years and none of his diehards have ever been able to elaborate what they are going to do except the exact same thing that has failed before.

Non-Trump conservative agenda?

Huh?

Wouldn’t that mean throwing all the good stuff Trump’s done, and wants to do for America and Americans in the garbage? So, what the heck does he have to run on? That he doesn’t Tweet?

Non-Trumpian? Open borders and Neocon foreign policy? It’s basically a no go for a lot of Republicans.
If its Populist policies similar to Trump’s but with a different politician than that might work. The idea that Republicans will only be allowed to win if they go back to the Bush era is a lose/lose situation for America.

He will not flip a single state that he lost in ‘20. He’d be lucky to even hold on to the ones he won.

******************

He won’t need to.

Elections are rigged, the mistake is to think they’re only rigged in one direction.

Trump is who the people want in 2024, not some guy who allowed Stacey Abrams to steal the election for Biden, and then passed a phony voting law that accomplished nothing.

“He will not flip a single state that he lost in ‘20.”

Trump didn’t lose these states, they were stolen. He got 16.000,000 more votes in 2020 than 2016 (by far more than any Republican in history). He also had 400,000 more votes than Kemp in GA.

You let the media pull you along by a chain connected to your nose. You let them tell you what to believe and believe it.

Trump got 16,000,000 more votes with a Corrupt DOJ / FBI, two coup attempts, phony investigations, impeachment attempts, government big tech suppression, and a democratic lapdog media (journalism completely dead).

Wrong. The only thing that will stop the Trump 2024 train is the most sophisticated voter-fraud operation in our history. Just ask Joe Biden about it.

I would never vote for Kemp in any election. Furthermore, I’d urge everyone I know not to vote for him.

Doesn't make one bit of difference in GA.

Kemp and Raffensberger have done a dirty Dominion deal. They get to keep their cushy state jobs as long as Democrats win the 2 Senate spots.

And we get told this happens because voters "split their ticket."

He could run for senate in Georgia. He’s the only statewide winner especially with his percentage win.

I agree. Being the largest state at the time to fully open up was an act of tremendous courage. Abbott and DeSantis didn’t have nearly as much courage. Kemp led the way, yet Trump threw him under the bus for opening up, which I suspect was a betrayal of what they had discussed together. Trump didn’t have the courage to say he supported Kemp opening up GA.

“Losing is losing no matter what the circumstances“

Bullshit. They stole it and not very artfully. If you think ANYONE is going to somehow beat the steal absent We the People getting off our asses then you don’t think at all. IT DOESNT MATTER WHO IS PUT UP ON OUR SIDE FOR 2024. They own our asses NOW unless we do something about it.

Trump was wrong on this but it took hindsight for this to be proven (he was being lied to by experts), but I will admit he was a bit to stubborn to relent on the vaccines. However, Kemp allow the destruction of country by hiding and supporting the upcoming voter fraud in retaliation.

As I’ve been saying, the ONLY hope for the remaining Republicans is that Trump gets thrown in jail. Otherwise the nomination will be his (if he wants it).

Trump is running in '24. Desantis will get crushed if he tries to go against Trump.

I predict that you will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.

Get used to the idea.

Where else are you going to go?
