Jesus was not poor. Poor men do not get to spread a ministry like His. There was no room at the inn in Bethlehem because of Caesar’s census, which forced everyone to register at the cities of their birth.

I agree - Has father owned a business, which Jesus took over and ran. Sounds very “middle class” to me.
To: Olog-hai
Jesus came from what we would call a middle class family.

Power hungry like the Vatican.

The Pope is not taking his own advice. He is using his royal power over his church to spread his ideology over the entire planet.

Funny how he’s railing against “money, power and pleasure” and yet keeps in good standing politicians and clergy who are saturated in those things while laicizing those who are the opposite.

What would a Marxist pope know about Jesus anyway? Your average Sunday School kid knows more.

I read an article that the purpose of the gifts from the Three Wise Men was their flight and life in Egypt.

Do you mean they used the gifts or sold the gifts to aid their journey?

Correction. Speculation that the gifts were used to fund their flight to Egypt and for living expenses.

Tradition and children's Christmas pageants aside, there's no sound scriptural basis for the claim that Jesus was born in a stable. Sorry.
