England’s gay fan groups have been advised to stay away from the World Cup by locals in Qatar despite claims from FIFA and the organising committee that it will be safe for them to visit.
The FA said this week they had received assurances that gay supporters who hold hands or wave a rainbow flag will not be prosecuted as the Qatari government will bring in legislation to permit previously outlawed behaviours for the duration of the tournament, but they are still seeking details about how the laws will be enforced in practice.
Gay fans remain concerned however, particularly after holding talks with members of the undercover gay community in Qatar, who have told them to stay at home.

Now if it were Poland instead of a Muslim country, there would be a full-blown boycott and demands FIFA move the tournament.

If you walk around and measure ‘anticipation’ for this World Cup in Europe...it’s probably the lowest ever. For all the hype of people possibly flying in and attending games, I’d have my doubts. Add to it....it’s not a summer game period (typically always in July/August), it’ll start in late November and run to 18 December. Most folks will be in Christmas holiday spirit, and even viewing audiences will be less than normal.

Doha is pretty westernized, though there is no alcohol (at least not publicly). You don’t see in public the kind of degenerates that one sees elsewhere. I enjoyed my time there, though I wouldn’t want to live there.

North Carolina was deemed unsafe for straight, heterosexual basketball players by the elites because they didn’t want guys with boners staring at women in bathrooms, but the elites are OK with gays going to Qatar.
So is it just homosexuals who need to worry, or the entire alphabet-soup marginals? I did not see any mention of lesbians, queers, or the other varieties called out; just the Peter Buttigieg types. But the headline has 5 letters; the acronym for “Let’s Get Biden To Quit”.

They will have public beer gardens at the world cup. I suspect the local police will just suspend their normal enforcement to avoid bad publicity unless its a major crime. That’s what happened in Russia in the last WC and they are police state.
