Omani Police and ambulances arrive at the accident site.
In a tragic incident, an Omani young man died and another sustained injuries after being struck by a lightning bolt on Wednesday evening.
The duo were struck while they were in a park in the state of Sohar before Iftar (breaking of fast).
The injured youth was taken to the hospital and his condition is stable.
According to Times of Oman, the incident took place near Sohar Secondary School in the Wilayat of Sohar in North Al Batinah around 4pm.
The newspaper interviewed the injured youth’s father who said that he was transferred to Sohar Hospital.
The hospital said that the injured youth would be allowed to leave the hospital soon.
Local media and community members have offered their condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased.
Lightning is striking
Again & Again & Again!
Lightning will literally knock you out of your shoes!
This story reads like an APB.
Just hope the police have enough of a description to capture this attacker. Wouldn’t want to take the wrong actor into custody.
Undoubtedly Allah’s punishment for messing with mother nature.
One of my favorites by Lou Christie!
I was once at the beach on a beautiful cloudless afternoon in South Beach, Miami in the late ‘80s when a huge lightning bolt came down from nowhere and struck maybe one-hundred yards away. Soon, a small group of people gathered at the site, and then an ambulance rolled onto the sand. Someone had died. Twenty minutes later a dark storm cloud passed over the horizon, and everyone scurried inside. So there, even on a peaceful Summer’s afternoon under a clear sky, how uncertain life is.
I saw the same thing once. It was a blue sky with patchy clouds here and there. Nothing looked stormy.
I was standing just inside the garage holding a large metal pry bar getting ready to walk up the hill to dig out old fence posts when flash/BOOM happened!
I bet it was beer-thirty after that.
That’s literally a “Bolt from the blue”, a rare but real event.
