An indigenous Canadian woman who lives nearly 400 miles from her nearest town has become a viral sensation for talking about her life in a remote town of just 90 people.
Sinead Meader, from Beaver Creek a community in Yukon on the Canadian- Alaskan border, 338 miles from their nearest town, Whitehorse.
In a series of videos, she revealed how she has to travel for five hours to get to her nearest supermarket - meaning she only takes the trip once every five to eight weeks.
Sinead, who works as a nutritionist has shared how she has to stockpile food and how locals in her town don't have addresses as everything is sent one post office where they go to pick up their mail.
While the town has a small elementary school, community centre and emergency nurse - but they have to travel five hours to visit a hospital.
Sinead added that she regularly battles -4F (-20C) temperatures in the snow filled town.
In one clip, she shares how she has a 677-mile round trip to get groceries.
The five-hour journey is almost an entire day's worth of daylight in winter months - and on many parts of the road they can only travel at 30 miles per hour.
'We have a good stockpile of canned and frozen food so we didn't need too much this time,' she explained.
'We don't get a lot of fresh fruit and veg, if we do we have to eat them fast or prep to be frozen.'
She went on that prices are comparable to a lot of Canada - but her groceries are made expensive by the five our drive and having to get a hotel room.
'It's like a mini vacation,' she added.

Welcome to the northland.
Really. It’s the Arctic. They act like this is new.
She’s clearly suffering from a number of disparate impacts, thus proving that systemic racism is the culprit. The Canadian government should immediately use public funds to build a grocery store next to her house, and since we don’t yet possess the technology needed to control the sun, large canopies will have to be built over the homes of white Canadians to ensure that they experience no more than five hours of sunlight per day. Only then can equity be achieved for this poor victimized woman.
My neighbour’s kid moved to Yellowknife. He loves it.
It’s the North. Cold in winter, buggy in summer, and remote even in the big towns.
Love it or leave it. Complaining just means you’re a complainer...
They should pool their resources.
338 miles in five hours is 67.6 mph. That’s a pretty amazing team of dogs.
Why doesn’t she live like her ancestors? Did her ancestors use a grocery store? I am always hearing how indengeous people would be better off with out whites but then they continue to live like whites.
And isn’t using a grocery store “cultural appropriation?” She should be thankful that she’s not forced to adopt the “white man’s ways.”
If she’s not living on fish, seal meat, and whale blubber, she’s guilty of white cultural appropriation.
This is why whites took the place over.
Too dumb to move to where the food is.
They used to hunt…so, maybe it is new.
Why doesn’t she move to Florida?
Move woman. Move. I would to a bigger town that was better weather.
What an idiot.
Exactly what I was channeling.
YOU LIVE IN A #$%&*! DESERT!
I worked at a grocery store in Wyoming. Rural people are used to coming to town and buying groceries for a long period. They know how to get organized for it. It's a way of life some love, being way out there.
.
global warming should fix it
living far far away from the maddening crowds is looking more and more enviable.
Very interesting!
a. Whitehorse has a Walmart Supercenter!
b. Any one in Beaver Creek could open a grocery store.
c. The indigenous life is threatened by conveniences.
