This is the United States first ever gender 'X' passport - given to an intersex Navy veteran who has been campaigning for the option since 2015.
Dana Zzyym, who uses they/them pronouns, received their document on Wednesday, with their law firm Lambda exclusively sharing a snap of the groundbreaking photo page with DailyMail.com
Zzyym, from Colorado, was identified as the recipient by her law firm Lambda Legal on Wednesday, shortly after the State Department announced the document had been issued.
Zzyym, who uses 'they/them' pronouns, first asked for the change while filling out their passport form in 2015, when the 63 year-old declared they were intersex and wrote 'X' on the form, instead of checking the M box for male or F box for female.
The momentous modification will become an option for all Americans applying for passports from early 2022.
It comes after the department announced in June that it was changing its gender requirements for the forms to be more inclusive of the LGBT community, after facing backlash from some of its members.

I assume since M is for male and F is for female, X is for xxx ?
You know if everyone applied for gender X designation, the morons who want it now would no longer want it.
I hope it tries to enter another country and gets thrown in the hoosegow.
Dude needs to buy a few vowels for that last name.
So I guess people want to identify as a Los Angeles indie band from the 80s-90s?
Well now, that passport will certainly speed up your customs check in Lower Botswana...lol
In some locales the customs guys have a poor sense of humor and a low tolerance for nonsense.
All while Cheyna is trying their best to keep their men from being demasculated.
Well, la-dee-fricken-da!

“By first grade, we were taught that the letters a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y are vowels.
Most of us probably accepted what we were told (it was just another “rule” we had to follow), and never questioned why that last part was true (there were other things to wonder about, like snack time).
Additionally, we unconditionally accepted that the other 20 letters in the English alphabet were strictly consonants. To most, those vowels and consonants were just letters, but to that first grader who aspired to be a linguist, they were more than merely lines on a page. “
I’m a try sexual.
I’m tracking.
I just don’t see how one can ascertain a to whether the “sometimes” rule would apply with this preposterous spelling.
Now, if it’s a Welsh name, I’ll apologize.
Just idiocy.
God is coming soon. The moral decay is steamrolling downhill.
Insanity.
I am Zenon from Pryon. Please let me intervene your butt.
M - male
F - female
P - pervert
That is very tempting...
Now that he/it has a passport he/it will want to try it out.
I recommend trips to Dubai, Singapore, Yemen, Somalia, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Congo.
I believe I’ve read about this man some five or six years ago. I think there is something more going on besides ‘Gender Confusion’. He probably has some form of depression.
He assumes changing the word to describe himself will lead to fulfillment. Some used to use Numerology or letter selection for that same goal. In my opinion, this is about never having accepted or never having liked who he is, so he changes the label. Sad.
My dog is applying for one of those .
The dogs preferred pronouns are: they, them, tail licker, dog, shoe chewer
