So I have owned a lot of pistols over the years.
Rugers, Springfields, S&W's, Glocks, Taurus's (OMG), and a few others.
Does anybody have any good experience with the M&P 45 shield?
I own a 9mm version and I am not happy with the the fact that the slide doesn't chamber when I throw or slam in a fully loaded new magazine like my other M&P's do. That functionality saves me about 1.5 - 2.0 precious seconds.
What's the fix on that? Do you like your 45 shield? Concealable? Holster types? Recoil? Comfort?
Anything else you wish to add.
Trade it for a Sig P220.
It's a proven product with a great price....Great price before the China virus hysteria that is.☺
Have four of these in gen1. All work flawlessly. Two .40, one .45, one 9. Couldn’t be happier. Still not a 1911 but for a small concealable sidearm they are as good as they come. There may be an issue in your case like the feed lips on the magazine are bent. People don’t take care of the magazines and there is one of the major problems with feeding. I have also experienced chamber issues on many firearms. If you got one of the last ones off the assembly line before they changed to a new reamer you could have a slightly tighter chamber but it meets SAAMI standards. I have chamber finish reamers for the most common calibers. A quick turn and that usually fixes the problem.
Its a very good gun for the money. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.
The fact that the slide goes forward when one inserts the magazine hard is not a feature.
It is not to suppose to work that way.
Some work that way I have seen it happen in semi-auto pistols at some times.
But they are designed to stay open until the slide stop is depressed or the slide in pulled back and released.

How does it shoot?
Shoots just fine. I shoot it as well as I do any Sig or Glock I own. How well a gun shoots generally has much more to do with the shooter than the gun.
OK, thanks.
Or a Sig P226 ST X-Five
Yup.
Enough with the plastic. Buy a Sig P226 ST
I had one and found the grip texture to be pretty aggressive. It also keyholed a lot. I sold it, if looking for a striker fired 45 today I’d look at the Walther PPQ.
If I am in a gunfight where Ive already discharged 6 or 8 shots and the 1.5 second reload time will save my life....tell my wife and kids I love them. Because there are a lot of THEM and I am dead.
Well that’s the 2nd recommendation for a Sig.
I’ll look into that one. Thanks!
Thank you FRiend!
I’ll look at Walther PPQ also.
How do you like that grip?
The best 45 I owned was a Colt model 70 combat commander in stainless steel, add night sights, throated out with 4 lb, trigger pull etc. That was one great 45. My Glock is trash next to it.
