Next week, Democrats in Congress will have a golden opportunity to take a strong and principled stand against President Trumps dangerous moves to resurrect the nuclear arms race.
So far, Trump has set a treacherous course for U.S. nuclear policy. He is tearing down arms control treaties that were carefully constructed over decades with bipartisan support. He is building new weapons at tremendous cost that will increase nuclear threats to the world. He has impulsively threatened nations (North Korea) with nuclear attack and has pushed others (Iran) to resume nuclear activities that they had ended.
Trump has been in office for less than three years, and the world is already a more dangerous place. Far from earning our trust on nuclear policy, he has given us reason to be deeply concerned.
Unfortunately, the executive branch has sweeping authority when it comes to nuclear weapons. Presidents can simply walk away from international agreements, as Trump has done with the Iran deal and the INF Treaty with Russia, and may do again with the New START treatythe last remaining agreement that limits U.S. and Russian arsenals. Trump also has absolute authority to order the first use of nuclear weapons with no checks or balances from anyone: not his advisors, and not the Congress.

Using the doll, show me where the election hurt you...
Grow up...
William Perry. Traitor. Chinese communist agent.
He thinks no one remembers.
Whatever the Chinese and the Russians are paying the author, it’s a bargain.
“” “” Trump has done with the Iran deal and the INF Treaty with Russia””” “
Let’s be honest. INF Treaty was destroyed by Bush in 2004 when the plans were finalized for INF infrastructure in Poland and Romania.
The rest is history. Blaming Russia as a violator for de-facto following suit and formal withdrawal... Let’s say formal.
As for Iran deal they might make some sense but once again the deal was questionable since the very beginning. And it was started by Obama.
The era of MAD is over. Russia can’t afford an arms race and we really aren’t a threat to them. China is the elephant in the living room.
Oh, the drama!
TOO TIRED FOR COMMIE ROT TONIGHT.
I found the author here very hard to read....in fact I think the guy has an agenda here that doesn’t reflect reality.
CLICK BAIT!!!
As of 9-22-2019, there is no one on the planet who I would rather have those lanuch codes than Donald J. Trump.
Perry was Clinton’s SecDef, and everything he touched turned to shit.
Luckily I turned my head to spew.
“Trump’s lust”???
They’ve gone from reading his thoughts to reading his emotions now.
I just wonder, if they can really do that why aren’t they getting rich in the stock market with that talent?
For those of you who don’t remember, Perry was one of the traitors in the Clinton Administration during the ‘90s. There were “swing voters” who tilted the election in favor of the Clintons—swing voters who often claim to be conservative but are definitely not. They’re not “paleo-cons,” as they claim to be, either. Their ancestors didn’t even start arriving in significant numbers until the second half of the 1800s.

Yes, because it really is a good idea to advertise and control what weaponry you have to dangerous neighbors... it never motivated them to attack you instead of forcing them to guess as a deterrent, not
Pollutico lies.
Barrack Hussein Obama gave BILLIONS in CASH to Iran to ramp up nuclear weapons programs and international terrorism. THAT is treasonous.

>>The era of MAD is over. Russia cant afford an arms race and we really arent a threat to them.
Russia still has a mutually assured destruction doomsday device armed and pointed at US.
It is an automated launch system established after a 1983 incident in which a Russian refused an order to launch a MAD “response” to a non-existent US missile attack.
Poor Bill Perry is senile and a shadow of his former self.
He thinks no one remembers.
Almost 40 years old, does it still work? Have they kept it updated? Was it dismantled after the USSR collapsed?
