Part of this is liberals smearing ALL conservatives as racist bigots. Liberals are taught in college and told by media and entertainment that they and they alone are welcoming, tolerance, moral. They’re told conservatives just hate all the other groups.

The hateful stereotypes are perpetuated by deliberate spin to “prove” said stereotypes, like the lie that Trump called white supremacists “fine people”.

Another reason is laziness. It is easier to smear the other side as stupid, crazy, evil, ignorant (with the elitist belief everyone will agree with you unless they’re inferior to you). Don’t argue policies, just slap them with labels. And now liberals have absolute certainty in said labels, so they think they can literally bash the fash and be in the right.
We already see this with “hate speech”. Liberals already define their views as based on love. Everyone else can be silenced as “hate speech”. And when you say it is just based on hate, you don’t have to listen to their views and can justify denying them freedom of speech. Plus, since they’re just evil haters, you can hate them because you already “know” they hate you.
This is akin to Islam preaching that all unbelievers want to hurt you, Jews are liars not to be trusted, hate the infidel, be wary of the apostate. Fear and hate the unbelievers, knowing they want to hurt you. Then it is easier to murder the critic, the atheist, the Christian who defends their views in public. And it can be framed as protecting the whole group. That is what Islam does - blasphemy is considered a literal attack on all believers, so your words are violence and we can execute you for it.
Liberals have appropriated this justification. You even hear it with “they’re invalidating our existence, they’re killing us”. It is a great way to protect your believers from contrary worldviews and even contrary facts ... but it is deadly when it comes to fruition.
And it all comes back to their increasingly extreme bubble, great power, and religious levels of investment in a political ideology.
The terrible irony is that liberals have united with Muslims in a war against the Judeo-Christian West/American worldview to, in their minds, defeat a common enemy. The liberals then assume the Muslims will convert to liberalism and celebrate diversity. In reality, the totalitarian system that created ISIS and Boko Haram will try to do the same here. All while they smear Christian neighbors as wannabe Taliban.
We aren’t in a 2 sided fight by a three way fight ... and it really is a war of religious ideologies. The tragedy is that the Judeo-Christian / Western ideal is the most tolerant. Be Jewish, Hindu, Baptist, whatever, but do share the modest common culture and language so we can all get along.
