In the fall of 1968, Donald J. Trump received a timely diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels that led to his medical exemption from the military during Vietnam.
For 50 years, the details of how the exemption came about, and who made the diagnosis, have remained a mystery, with Mr. Trump himself saying during the presidential campaign that he could not recall who had signed off on the medical documentation.
Now a possible explanation has emerged about the documentation. It involves a foot doctor in Queens who rented his office from Mr. Trumps father, Fred C. Trump, and a suggestion that the diagnosis was granted as a courtesy to the elder Mr. Trump.
The podiatrist, Dr. Larry Braunstein, died in 2007. But his daughters say their father often told the story of coming to the aid of a young Mr. Trump during the Vietnam War as a favor to his father.
I know it was a favor, said one daughter, Dr. Elysa Braunstein, 56, who along with her sister, Sharon Kessel, 53, shared the familys account for the first time publicly when contacted by The New York Times.
Elysa Braunstein said the implication from her father was that Mr. Trump did not have a disqualifying foot ailment. But did he examine him? I dont know, she said.

Did Donald eventually get surgery for the condition?
Translation: It's pure bullspit.
Or, BJC and his Red Square excursion and all of his machinations to get out of the draft.
Note well that his two daughters said the above ‘when contacted by The New York Times’.
The article doesn’t say.
I didn’t have to have surgery for mine. Some people have successfully used special shoe inserts to alleviate the problem. I found whatsits that wrap around part of the foot and are designed to relieve pressure on the spurs. I wore those awhile and the pain stopped. I haven’t had problems since (but kept the whatsits just in case it comes back).
I work with a primarily over-65 population. I’ve had several guys tell me that they weren’t drafted due to various problems, including several with “flat feet.”
I’m a Vietnam veteran, and I stand with President Trump!
Dan Rather just found some documents that were typed in 1968 that show that Donald never reported for his exam at the doctor’s office.
Tomorrow they'll blame Trump for solar flares.
Then there’s John Kerry (whom we know DID serve in Vietnam — and in Cambodia, on a secret mission in 1968 when Nixon was president ... oh, wait...)
This bullsheit from the party of war hero j f Kerry.
+1
The Left does a very effective job at holding us to our standards while keeping its standards out of the discussion. Many young voters don't realize they are being played.
Maybe it was because I enlisted (on my 17th birthday) not drafted, but my feet were flatter than a 2 by 4 plus I had to fire a rifle left handed because the vision in my right eye was so bad. They took me no problem. Never regretted enlisting.
I had arrow-point spurs on the underside of both arches in my foot. Caused from misalignment of my foot. I was a marathon runner at the time.
It was very painful to walk and running was becoming impossible.
One doctor, a surgeon, recommended surgery (isn't that what they all do?) to remove them but as a long distance runner, I was leery and afraid it would end my running career.
So I went to a sport podiatrist instead and he crafted some rigid sports orthotics that corrected my foot misalignment. They were hard fiberglass, like plastic.
After wearing them for 6 months, the pain resided and further x-rays showed that the spurs had dissolved and disappeared.
Never had any pain after that and I wore those orthotics for 30+ years until I had double-knee replacements. The doc said he corrected my natural misalignment when he put the fake knees in and I didn't need them anymore.
Thankfully, I chose the non-surgical route to correct the spurs.
Little Stevie Eder must not have got the Xbox from Santa that he asked for.
Just another “investigation” for Nagative Nancy and Schmucky Schmoozer to have to set up. The Loony lefty Neanderthals are on a roll.
The Logan act is essentially dead letter, more to threaten than to actually prosecute anybody.
Boogety, boogety, boo.
The implication is that somehow the family of Donald Trump, in a effort to avoid the draft, bought a diagnosis from the podiatrist that would rule Donald Trump exempt from draft of “4F” status, a finding that may be reversed at any time the needs of the Selective Service are great enough to modify the original findings. The draft was getting recruits as such a rate that it was in fact TOO MANY for the needs of the military. So the draft lottery number, based on birth date, was instituted, giving a numerical rating to those born of a particular date, decreasing from 1 down to 365.
Supposedly this was “fair”. A military draft is one of the ultimate aims of a total socialist state.
Don’t know, don’t care! This is just a few days short of 2019 not 1968! Grow up, deal with life!
Yeah, the day after Christmas doesn't rank up there as a great day to release bombshell news like this.
Trump had a significant medical condition. If he had tried to hide it he would have been putting both himself AND his fellow servicemen in risk. A unit cannot function if a single membe is unfit medically.
Likewise, a unit will not function well if there are incompetents within it. Mcshame being the case in point, for all the media portrayal of him as a herohe caused the death of more Americans than Cong through his stupidity and incompetence
