Thanks for the heads-up! I had thought it was in Italy - which shows just how dumb I am about all of this stuff.
But I stand by my statement that nothing is ever - or forever - going to be really ‘secure’; and folks should proceed with that assumption and use it as a guiding principle as to what they send out through the ‘ether’.

Tutanota is NOT based in Russia as he said. It is based in Germany which has a good record on privacy. It is open source and for the year I have been using it, it has worked great. Simple layout, good encryption and no complaint so far about their service... I use the free version.
