Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus and a regular Trump confidant, said Tuesday he’s weighing the introduction of a resolution to hold Rosenstein in contempt of Congress. That move that could force a vote — even without Speaker Paul Ryan's blessing — before the House leaves town for a five-week recess on Thursday.

Under House rules, lawmakers can force a vote on such a “privileged” motion two days after filing it. If Meadows were to file his resolution before the end of the day Tuesday, he’d be empowered to seek a vote before the House departs on Thursday. Meadows described his thinking on whether to file the resolution "fluid."

I misread that headline as “Trump allies weigh last-ditch bid to punch Rosenstein”.

This just sets the predicates for firing him. Impeachment would never get past the Senate.

OOooooooo “contempt of congress”...

That’s some scary stuff, man.

Then maybe they can report him to the teacher and he can stay after school.

Sometimes you have to step back and look at the big picture.

This story is NOT the story.

Our nation is in a civil war where the left have attempted a coup d’tat. Since impeachment of a President is a political act, they needed to weaken the President (separate him from his supporters) before they could impeach him. That has been the purpose behind the attacks 24/7 since before he was even sworn in.

Any other Republican would have been a quivering pile of jelly by now begging the left to leave him alone promising to do anything they wanted. President Trump is made of stronger stuff.

While the attacks have not weaken him like they wanted, they (the attacks) have put restraints on some of his actions. It has taken awhile for him to counter-attack (fake news, crooked Hillary) and for his policies to be seen as working.

Rosenstein is not going be impeached. The move is a feint, a distraction, to keep the left off balance. Rosenstein will be fired when the President think the time is right.

The President will be at his strongest after the midterm so I suspect that is when things will come to a head. (This is just an opinion, so I am most likely wrong, but perhaps not)

He signed the search warrant, he should have recused himself. Sessions had to for shaking hands with a Russian ambassador as Senator.

OOooooooo…

All to true if by that you refer to the ‘modern’ way of entrusting contemp of Congress to the Article 2 justice department. When it’s comitying the contempt. But if you go back to the original, intrinsic, purely Article 1, way of implementing it: Congress proclaims it, Congress arrests and itself imprisons perp, perp May not leave detention until contemp resolved or end of that ‘school year,’ then perps might actually be scared. Especially once the implications of a lot of laws not applying to Congress. Like all the laws regarding prison standards. Like all the laws by which other prisoners go to an (Article 1) judge to improve their position. The '8th still applies, but you’ll need the Article 3 court to address it and it is already on the record affirming the intrinsic Congressional power. Realistically the perps only defense against this is the current fecklessness of this Congress and its ‘leadership.’

I don’t know whether a ‘privileged’ Contemp motion, bypassing Ryan, is allowed like an Impeachment one is. If it were allowed that might be a stronger option, if as I believe (but don’t know for certain) that the House can exercise Contemp on its own, not even needing a majority vote out of the Senate. If so, that, if nothing else, could be a powerful stunt for the nascent Jim Jordan for Speaker campaign leading up to the mid term elections. Would GOP House incumbents, facing a Trump voters for re-election, GOP House challengers wanting Trump voters, support the (very) lame duck House leadership, and thus the Swamp, or will they join Trump in draining the Swamp when no Senate cover exists. In my state of Iowa I’d bet King and Blum would join Jordan, and Young would confirm himself Rino. alas my rep is the one Iowa Rat.

While the so-called conservatives on this board and elsewhere bray “What’s the point? It will never work! We’re doomed, I tell ya!”, I called DeSantis’ office just now, and encouraged him to push for filing the Priveledged Motion. Kick Rosenstein in the nuts!

In a bit, I’ll call every member who signed, and give the same message. This is called, “activism,” and actual fighting. Not the fake “Fight! Trust the Plan!” idiocy, which encourages not fighting, and pretends it’s activism.
See tagline.

Meanwhile, the brayers bray, and hide behind keyboards.

Get. Some. Spine. Pick up the phone, call, and encourage. Quit taliking the talk. Start walking the walk.

“The President will be at his strongest after the midterm so I suspect that is when things will come to a head. (This is just an opinion, so I am most likely wrong, but perhaps not)”

I posted this earlier today on another thread:

“The day after the mid-term elections, where we will hold our majorities in both houses plus gain some, President Trump should immediately fire both Sessions and Rosenstein. Immediately.”

I am still not sure about Sessions. It is really odd to be put into that position and then do nothing. I hope that he is working behind the scene building a case against Hillary and crew but for now I just don’t know.
