I don't ever think I've seen a picture or sculpture of her SMILING...
I've noticed that too. But visionaries of Mary (the Church-approved ones) say that they feel only intense joy when they see her. That her beauty is incomparable. And I believe St. Bernadette [of Lourdes] said she was smiling [I'd have to double-check on that].
And for those who understand the tilma of Juan Diego as true, they will see that the picture ("Our Lady of Guadalupe") which was painted by God, shows Mary as not smiling, so there must be good reason for that.

The only drawing by Him that I know of was made on the ground while He was being confronted with the woman found in the very act of sexual sin. (By the way, was one of the Pharisees the man involved with her? Or was it a Sadducee? Perhaps he was a scribe.)
