I have never cursed anyone; I pray that God opens your heart to people who don’t share your belief. Your reply shows how you judge others that way.

Maybe you ought to pray that for all the Catholics who call everyone who disagrees with them "heretics".

I'm responsible for what I post, Mom. Me, I'm for a truce on the name-calling. It's not informative, and it's counter-productive to what could be some really interesting discussions.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary Online defines "heretic" in a factual, not insulting, manner:

Full Definition:
1 :a dissenter from established religious dogma; especially :a baptized member of the Roman Catholic Church who disavows a revealed truth
2 :one who dissents from an accepted belief or doctrine :nonconformist

Now, on the other hand, very often in forum, we see Catholics referred to as being a "cult":

Full Definition:
1 :formal religious veneration :worship
2 :a system of religious beliefs and ritual; also :its body of adherents
3 :a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious; also :its body of adherents
4 :a system for the cure of disease based on dogma set forth by its promulgator
5 a :great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, or work (as a film or book); especially :such devotion regarded as a literary or intellectual fad
b :the object of such devotion
c :a usually small group of people characterized by such devotion.

Now, as to #3:
"Regarded", well, call it a matter of opinion; but "unorthodox" and especially "spurious" are not exactly flattering, now are they?

FWIW, Mom, we Catholics, as you may recall, use 1, 2, and 5 in our self-description. As regards 5, devotion to a particular saint, or to Our Lady is used as one Catholic to another as acceptable.

I include ALL of us FReepers in my daily prayers: even the ones I've never met in the RF! As to #4, well, I don't know where that applies. Lol that was a new one on me, but hey, I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree! 😀

God bless you, Mom! G2G
