Over 10,000 killed in Kiev’s punitive op - Ukrainian MPs
Russia Today ^ | 8-8-2014 | RT

More than ten thousand people have been killed in Kiev’s punitive operation in southeastern Ukraine since April, said a Ukrainian parliamentary group. The MPs addressed the president urging to declassify information on citizens killed.

The Ukrainian parliamentary group “For peace and stability” said on Friday that the figure was given by volunteer groups working in the east of the country, ITAR-TASS reported.

“We have estimated that just in the first two weeks of July nearly 2,500 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the area of the ‘anti-terrorist operation’,” the group said in a statement in the Verhovnaya Rada (Ukraine’s parliament).

“The number of wounded during the same period was more than 5,000 people. Thousands of civilians fell victim to military actions. Most of them died from shrapnel wounds. Thus, the preliminary number of the Ukrainians killed during the anti-terrorist operation, is more than 10,000 people according to our estimates,” said the co-chairman of the parliamentary group, Sergey Gorokhov.

The MPs also addressed Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the government, urging to “declassify the official data on the amount of people - civilians, Ukrainian soldiers, and everyone who took part in the anti-terrorist operation – who were killed.”

Gorokhov stated that the president receives a report on the people killed in the operation every day, but it is classified. Meanwhile, the families of those missing in the military operation zone petition the government each day in the “hope that their close ones will be found,” he added.

.....”these neo-Nazi groups are defiant, as in they don’t care about the association. They use it to their advantage and they are on both sides of the playing field”......

Many of them running the streets in Kiev are just that....huge trouble makers using whatever political moment and otherwise which is happening at the time to stir up or escalate a situation just to “see” it erupt. They love the chaos.

Those fighting in the North remind me of Islamic fighters....they will go with the flow of brutality where ever it's evident.

Both sides indeed are using them.... especially the militia's which are hired to fight this war. Several that are run by Oligarch's use them and know where to recruit them. Since you stated you don't think it matters to them which side they're on...I would agree in part...but there are those coming in from outside Ukraine who are being told their presence is needed to usher in their own people controlling the government.

As I mentioned prior there are many players in this theater, with leaders all assuming they will have a say in the areas they hope to control, now and later in Governance...and the body count doesn't matter either way.

....”jamming the thread”.....

Ukraine is a pivotal country with hoigh stakes for all the parties involved.... it would be good to have reasonable debate and conversation regarding what news sources are reporting but I gave up that possibility as there are those here who it appears purposely fill the threads with insults and crappy posts....until you finally just leave the threads...which is why they do what they do. As one said "successfully" so their mission is accomplished. It's a shame we cannot have civil debate and discuss Ukraine....because it is such an important event now.

....”In order to ...’impose your will’... using military force, a lot of people, many of them innocent, have to get killed.”........

Key phrase of ‘imposing ones will’...at this juncture it appears Kiev began imposing it’s will on the East with brute force on a people who desired their statehood of sorts and run their own area of concern. Rather like our states here in the US.

This is why the Red-Cross declared this to be a civil war...which it is...with outside influences supporting parties, which is common in civil wars.

....”the way they were combined and by what was left out made the readers believe something that was absolutely not true”....

Sounds like our media as well when reporting events going on in the world. They all frame them according to the dictates of ownerships own political position.....editors edit for a reason...and in war they are surely going to do so to confound the opposition no matter which side is doing so...it’s why it’s called media wars.

War is never fair nor is it predictable for the most part.....men making decisions who are not on the ground often create as much chaos or more than those actually fighting. The same goes for journalists reporting from the ground and those they report to.

“I’m sick of the endless Russian propaganda and the endless chant of NAZI NAZI NAZI.”

You might be sick of hearing about it, but the fact remains that the Nazi’s you are sick of hearing about are holding sway in Kiev right now.

From the violence on the Maidan, to the coup and the “Wipe out Russian Culture in Ukraine!” bs that started the civil war, to actually running the War in the Southeast (Parubiy), to documented atrocities so bad that even Amnesty International had to single out Yarosh and his Nazi’s, they seem to be driving the persecution of the civil war.

IMO, there can be now cease-fire, or peace, until someone puts a leash on these people, because as Amnesty noted, they are beyond the control of the Official government.

You are sick of hearing about them because of the horrible imagery they represent. But you are more than happy to talk about and blame the Russian extremists. You have no interest in hiding the lack of objectivity, or even the hypocrisy.

Well, nice to see ya laughing at my posts. I remind you that I am not trying to be funny in any way right now but I can be .....

I’m gonna run this up the flag pole one more time.

The Nazi issues, pictures, names etc is a canard. It began as propaganda from nearly day one of the conflict.

“How’s it work on Russians, has it been worn out there? Are they pretty much using the “Hammer and Suckit” the same way?”

Other than a few small ethnic outsiders, they are all Russians!

This is a civil war, that Russia has instigated.

It’s not ideological and the Nazi gang bangers are working for both sides. Highest bidder wins.

So it should not be used to determine which side of this fight is honorable.

To bastardize a quote from Ho Chi Min’s revolution against the French, (”I would rather smell (American” shit for 5 years then eat (Russian) shit for a thousand”) Insert country name as applicable.

This is what it’s about....It’s what it has always been about since before there was a Ukraine. As a result, the Ukraine has put out some interesting characters in our human history.

But it’s still just a battle for control that if history is a guide, will continue back and forth for a long time to come.

No point in being adult with you. You have a terminal, moronic fixation on NAZIS. like a Libtard who yells RASCIST all the time.

Well, you took that "LOL" the wrong way. Yes, it's a fight for independence but that doesn't make a lot of difference to those who don't want to think through the conflicting drives for independence.

Independent from Russia, independent from Kiev, more independent as part of Ukraine, totally independent as another country, and so on. Who can give aid to which group that wants independence from something, and so on. On FR, even say the Regions should be more independent and have more power compared to their current system, you're a "Putinista". So, what's saying it's a war for independence amount to?

Other than a few small ethnic outsiders, they are all Russians!

We agree, they're all Russians, something I've said on several occasions much to the chagrin of some folks on FR. Russians at all the demonstrations, Russians filling the Parliment, Russians fighting one another in the Southeast.

So, "Russian" in my question should have been more specific as in "Russians in Ukraine trying to get attention at demonstrations with the Soviet flag".

"But it’s still just a battle for control that if history is a guide, will continue back and forth for a long time to come.

The regions having a greater voice instead of Kive holding all the cards seems to be to be a way to head off more bloodshed down the road and help Ukraine eventually resolve the internal disputes without regularly having mobs in the streets of Kiev to change the government rather than through elections.

The Ukrainian Bandera Nazi’s make you look bad. I understand that.

So you childishly insult, and try to minimalize and dismiss it, and try anything to divert from it.

Sorry, try and sell your Orwellian Current Truths elsewhere.

~~Now, you will, yet again, try to control the language again by shouting the Kiev/nazi propaganda that:

A) The coup wasn’t a coup
B) The Actual Nazi’s in charge in Kiev, like Parubiy, aren’t actually Nazi’s, and if the are, they have no power.
C) Those are not mostly Ukrainian Citizens fighting because they oppose the coup, but “Russian Invaders”.~~

D) Yanukovic is a Russian puppet, who ruined the economy and military (Bush anyone?).

E) East of Ukraine is a post-industrial hell-hole ‘Detroit of East Europe’.

I actually heard from a guy who was there who estimated Ukrainian military deaths in thousands. As for civilian deaths with all that airsrikes and shellings on a larget cities you can expect thousands dead too.

It's an important point. Orthodox Russians won't go kill their fellow Orthodox in Georgia and Ukraine, so Russia makes use of islamic chechens and dagenstanis.

If you are offended by a link I posted then I guess don't read it. I read that site all the time to gain knowledge of the enemy.

I'm not offended at all by other news sites posters post...in fact it's always good to get all sides of an issue....but there are some who don't think we should post news sources other than those who support their position.

I view many other news sources besides MSM....I think it's important to get the picture from all sides of an issue. Especially with Ukraine because there's so much being reported that is blocked from our country. Kiev as well blocks other news sources.

Photographs are coming out but only by those journalists allowed into Ukraine's East have them...often these are Russian journalists, and other foreign news sources. They are not allowing US or Kiev journalists in. So the only way to see is via foreign news agencies. I posted some photos from Press Tv because they are allowed in the East. ..and was jumped on continuously for doing and still am. It's just impossible to present the entire picture on FR and let people determine what they will.

The first casualty of war is the truth of course. And here it seems like the one who disagrees with you uses your source to challenge you rather than discussing the point, too often. Sorry that happened to you.
