The Marriage of Obama's Parents: 'In Name Only'?

So when did Ann's and Obama Sr.'s "whatever happened happened fast" wedding happen? For no apparent reason, confusion abounds among Obama's biographers over the wedding date:

1. Dreams claims that Ann and Obama Sr. were in married "in 1960"; similarly, Mendell's 2007 book claims that the couple were married "sometime in late 1960" when they "slipped off alone to the island of Maui"; and both Obamaland (2008) by Ron Jacobs (with contributor David Maraniss) and a 2007 Washington Post article claim that the two were married "late in 1960."

2. A 2007 Chicago Tribune article vaguely claims that Ann and Obama Sr. were married "six months before" Barack's birth on Aug 4, 1961 -- or, in other words, sometime in early 1961.

3. An April 2008 Time article by Amanda Ripley, as does Maraniss's August 2008 article, gives a specific date of February 2, 1961 for the wedding, apparently based on Ann's and Obama Sr.'s 1964 divorce records – mysteriously appearing on the web. But since fake documents have been known to appear on the web, Obama's biographers, Ripley and Maraniss, might want to verify the 1964 divorce documents – especially since a Feb. 2, 1961 marriage date for "Ann and Obama Sr." wasn't reported in any Honolulu Advertiser or Honolulu Star-Bulletin marriage lists from February 1961. Take the February 8, 1961 Star-Bulletin, which listed eighteen marriages from Feb. 3, Feb. 4, and Feb. 6, and no Feb. 2 marriages, and the February 7, 1961 Advertiser, which listed eleven marriages from Feb. 2 to 4, including two Feb. 2 marriages.

I hope you have it saved some where.

It was pretty interesting. Either one would have to be true:

1. There is a real BHO somewhere other than in the WH.

2. The guy in the WH really was named BHO but grew up in Kenya.

Or, Malik was lying, but there would be no reason for him to lie. He just let it slip.

Of course, after reading on FR since 2008 about the background of Zero, I am 100% sure that #1 is the truth.

A Smithsonian Magazine article published in May 2011 distinguished the Barack H. Obama Recreation and Rest Center from then open and operating Kogelo Village Resort, a 40-bed hotel and conference center owned by Nicholas Rajula. The article noted Malik Obama, “the president’s half-brother and the oldest son of Barack Obama Sr., who had eight children with four wives,” had “invested a large sum in the soon-to-open Barack H. Obama Recreation Center and Rest Area in Nyag’oma Kugelo.”

I didn’t download the audio, the 38 minutes of which wasn’t played anyway; iirc, what was played was just a few minutes, and now it’s gone, but once he’s said it, there it is, for anyone who cares to follow it up. Both boys attended school, Ruth refers to a ‘cousin Barack was paying to educate’ and Malik says ‘Barack taught school in Uganda’.

That wasn’t his father. His father’s employment history is too well documented to allow for any teaching in Uganda...so I think we know who that might have been. I’m not planning a trip to Uganda to check it out, however. I just found that statement interesting...

Rasmussen: It became clear to me that the entrance into the Soviet system for practically all foreign students was the Lumumba University. Those who were talented agitators stayed back at the Lumumba University. Those who were mere thugs with severe personality disorders were sent to Romania and Bulgaria to learn guerrilla warfare. It does matter in a way, since he is the public “brother” and now he’s done illegal money collecting and the IRS gave him non-profit status immediately. That 0bama family is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, or many of them, even though they aren’t related to Zero! (More than enough villainy in the world to spread thickly around.)

They sure made him cool his heels in Russia for a long time. No wonder he added that word meaning “shoved aside” as his middle name. Money is not a fair substitute for having your name stolen, apparently.
