However, I don’t carry cash. Everything is plastic for me.

The NSA thanks you for making it easy for them.

What McCain said is that he wants the bigger denominations to be so fouled as the $1 bill is currently alleged to be, you know.

Actually, this shows just how out of touch McCain is. Every year, the US releases the next 4 of the presidential dollar series and a Sacajewea dollar. That's five different versions of those brass looking dollar coins about the size of a quarter minted every year.

People seldom use them, but they are made.

The reality is that dollar coins have never been wildly popular, even in the days of the cartwheels, at least since the greenback made its debut.

To the extent that any cash still makes sense, $1 coins are long overdue.

Here in Canada, we like our Loonies and Toonies. A $5 coin is likely coming soon. Meanwhile, we just axed the penny. As another poster mentioned, if you compare the value of money today vs (say) the 1950’s, we should even have $20 coins — and probably no coin below a quarter. It’s either that, or have a currency revaluation — where you’d exchange (say) $50 for one Newbuck.

BTW, while a $1 coin weighs more than a $1 bill; it also weighs a lot less than four quarters. So long as we use coins for vending machines and parking meters; $1, $2, and even $5 coins will prove to be pocket savers.

I keep one quadrillion dollars (Zim) in my desk drawer (ten 100 trillion dollar notes) as a reminder that paper is just paper in the end.

Possibly.
The real rewards are worth the possible risk. What exactly am I risking, btw.? Keep in mind, that I DO buy SOME things with cash only. :-)

They stopped printing them years ago but rare as they are they do exist and they are still legal tender. 5k and 10k exist as well and the ultra rare a 100k note but it was only used for treasury transfers

After that they were the now standard copper/nickel clad coins.

Correct, with the exception of the Halves (and dimes and quarters) in the 90% Silver Proof Sets issued by the US Mint. Those have to be bought from the mint (or a coin dealer) and are not general issue for circulation.

I went to a strip club in Canada once, about 5 years ago. It really bothered me that the guys were tossing coins on the stage, LOL. But Canada has $1, $2, $5, and $10 coins, if I recall correctly. McCain meant that he was hoping for the strippers in the US to start getting more Five dollar bills, but $1 coins would just make more noise in the US strip clubs. It won’t change the economics of supply and demand on price-per-boob.

What? Are strippers gonna start wearing little coin purses?

Sounds like a marketing opportunity.

Something like 85% of paper money has been found to contain trace amounts of cocaine as well.

Sen. John McCain has a wish.........legislation he’s backing that would do away with the dollar bill and replace it with a dollar coin:

How many times has the dollar coin been tried and rejected by the general public????

This is just another example of the idiocy coming from this fool...............

IS THERE ANYBODY IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA THAT HAS ONE OUNCE OF INTELLIGENCE? WHY DOES MCCAIN CONTINUE TO GET RE-ELECTED?
