I am going to guess that the sucker punch thrown by Trayvon broke Zimmerman’s nose. Zimmerman probably lost consciousness for a second and was probably brought around by having his head rammed into the pavement.
By the time his head cleared enough to think clearly, the only thought that came to his mind was to go for his gun. I would be surprised if the thought of, shoot or not shoot ever entered his mind.
Of course, the only thing that I want to see at this point is for Dr. Rao to have her nose broken by an MMA participant and then to see her expound as to how it was an inconsequential injury. Putz!

You don't just walk into a Dojo and walk out Karate Kid in three weeks, or even a year.
The first step is evaluation which was confirmed by a witness and Z was found
to be soft. Soft means it would take 2-3 years of training part time to toughen up
enough to not be hurt during training. MMA is tough, extremely tough, Concrete tough.
