FULL TITLE: Walmart security guard shoots 'shoplifting' mother dead in parking lot as she tries to escape with two young children
A 27-year-old mother of two has been fatally shot by an off-duty sheriff's deputy after he suspected her of shoplifting at a Houston Walmart.
Harris County Sheriff's deputies have said that victim Shelly Frey, Tisa Andrews and Yolanda Craig were stealing when they were confronted by Louis Campbell a 26-year veteran of the force who works as a security guard at the store.
According to Campbell the women ran to their car and when he rushed to open the door, they accelerated away - at which point he fired the deadly shot into the car which hit Frey in the neck.

Security at the store on the 14000 block of the North Freeway had noticed the three women 'stuffing items inside their purses' and notified Campbell, who was working an extra job that evening.
Investigators with Harris County said the three women even attempted to pay for some small items to act as a cover for the shoplifted ones.

IF....the deceased wasn't a thief, she may well still be alive. You criminal apologists are largely responsible for the type of behavior exhibited by the three women involved in this incident.
I'd like to add though that the neighbor was told what happened by the woman herself. They not only left her to die, but left her conscious as well.

For all those kiddies in the car detractors...think about it. If you're standing at the passenger door of a car, the only target you could clearly see IS the front seat passenger. This wasn't some green behind the ears guy either, he's a 26 year police veteran.
I don't usually jump up and defend cops, but I'll damn sure jump up and sefend this one.
“For those on probation, all crimes are felonies.”
That’s just not true...
“For those bagging more than $250, shoplifting is a felony, in this case the total bagged by all three, and for those working in groups, all crimes are felonies.”
You would have a difficult time trying to conceal $250 worth of stuff from Walmart... And for people in groups, all crimes are NOT felonies.
“You are a below-average Joe with a scoff-law attitude and a hatred of people with guns.”
I’m not apologizing for the alleged criminal, but I’m also not going to apologize for the Walmart guard. If she were to be found guilty she should be in jail. Not the morgue.
And as far as people with guns... I probably have more guns than you do, along with a permit to carry.
Why?
A handgun, jewelry or laptop would be easy to conceal.
And for people in groups, all crimes are NOT felonies
Vehicular assault is a felony.
“Why?”
Because when every second counts, the cops are only minutes away.
You shoot them at the exact point that they turn their car in to a murder weapon by attempting to run you over.
“A handgun, jewelry or laptop would be easy to conceal.”
Handguns are not left unsecured at Walmart. Jewelry, laptops and other high value Items aren’t either. And even moderately priced items have an RFID chip in them.
“Vehicular assault is a felony.”
If there was a vehicular assault (and there are two articles and they describe it differently), the woman who was shot wasn’t driving, and it would be tough to prove that she had anything to do with it.
Do you believe criminals actually GAS? You made the claim $250 worth of merchandise would be difficult to conceal and you were proven wrong. What makes you defend criminals and criminal behavior?
She was at the very least, an accessory to the crime or crimes. Why are you a criminal apologist?
“You made the claim $250 worth of merchandise would be difficult to conceal and you were proven wrong.”
I wasn’t proven wrong. And neither article mentioned stolen articles recovered. Don’t you think that that would be a question a reporter would ask?
“She was at the very least, an accessory to the crime or crimes.”
Why would that be? At this point, it hasn’t even been proven that a crime took place. If as the TV station reported that the shooter was standing between the open door and the drivers side seat when the driver put the car in drive, then he was in no danger of getting run over. And it hasn’t been established by either article that anything was shoplifted from Walmart.
Yet you have her as an accessory. I’m not supporting shoplifting. But I’m also not excusing the more serious situation where a person fires a gun into a car full of people, when clearly some of the people in the car are innocent. That in it’s self, is criminal.
She was an accessory to a crime unless she was kidnapped or a hostage. Hadn't she been ordered to stay out of Walmart stores? Why do you defend scofflaws and criminal behavior?
I don't mean to be rude, but that is really a ridiculous question. Why are you a criminal apologist?
Yet you have her as an accessory
At the very least. She had been ordered by the courts to stay out of Walmart because of a previous conviction for stealing. Why do you defend scofflaws and criminal behavior? You are excusing women who plainly endangered innocent children.
“Why do you defend scofflaws and criminal behavior?”
The woman is dead for God’s sake. No amount of defending her is going to change that. This case is about what to do with the killer.
In my opinion based on the articles, she didn’t deserve to die and the shooter acted irresponsibly. The grand jury will have to decide.
Nice shooting, Officer. Society thanks you.
Do you even understand how idiotic this statement is? You dont see a conflict in a police officer working for Wal-Mart getting to hide behind his authority as a LEO.? It is OK with you that a police officer is being paid on the side to protect Wal-Mart crap with deadly force?
Odds are she wouldn't be if she weren't an obvious unrepentant criminal.
This case is about what to do with the killer.
The officer had the right to protect himself from assaaulting criminals. According to reports, Shelly had been charged with stealing from another Walmart in the past, and was banned from stepping foot in them ever again. The grand jury will have to decide.
I've served on a grand jury. From what I've read, a 'no bill' will be returned. A true bill will be returned against the two Frey accomplices.
